There’s been talk of lowering the voting age to 16. For me, this is preposterous. 16 year olds should be concerned about graduation and prom, they, for the most part, have little if any life experience, and have a long way to go in terms of gaining knowledge.

I think voting for the President and Vice President, the age should be raised to 35. After all, it is the required age to hold such office....

Change my mind.

And one should need to be a tax payer.. Either property or income... (Unless retired)

No criminal record...

No dual citizenship...

Exceptions should be made for military members... And law enforcement...

I have never thought of that before - 35 for voting for President and Vice President. My gut reaction is its not a bad idea. I'll have to give it more thought.

It merits consideration when selfish geriatric folks are voting to destroy a planet and nation that they wont be around to suffer.

I think that you are right and in the beginning of our country if you didn't own property you couldn't vote either as they used to say you had to have skin in the game before you could vote to change things. Today we have to many on welfare voting for more welfare and not working it should be the other way around if you don't work you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Those kinds of rules were abandoned for good reason. 18 is an adult, though most do not vote at that age. I went in the military at 17, but voting age was 21 then. I think a country run by geriatric white males is a recipe for disaster.

Life was different back then and also a lot harder thus making kids grow up faster and assume adult type responsibility at a much earlier age also life expectancy was much lower back then as well. Our revolutionary war incorporated many young Americans fighting for our freedom as well so what is your point in all of this?
