Belongs in the General Chitchat section then...

Not very good satire either...
I prefer the stuff that Slatten posts...
I think Buffalo (But am not 100% sure) pists some pretty good satire that he writes himself...
Haven't seen him lately... Hope he is ok...

Why shouldn't it be posted under Main, "where we talk about politics, economics, and life in general"?

Because it is not politics , economics or life in general...

It is satire... Humor...

No offense was meant...

OK. I just read the story. To me it is pure poppycock that anyone could even think up such a story. That can't even be hypothetical.

I have met Christians who claIm the Earth is only six thousand years old...

I think that is due to being as far back as we can trace human beings. There is no time and date stamp on rocks or fossils.

Those have to be labeled theories if they want to be honest. I did read a paper on what is called halo rings found in granite. If accurate, granite has to be formed at extremely high temperatures and cooled rapidly, as in a matter of seconds, for them to form.

Maybe one of your Chinese friends can tell you about the Chinese emperor who has dinos pull his carriage. Lots of pottery found in S. America with dinos and humans together. Some dinos bones have even been found with soft tissue.

The world is an awesome place, one of a kind planet. Can't wait until we figure out how to explore the ocean better.

Dinosaurs? Nope.. Never heard that one...
The Qilin is a mythical beast that is often found in ancient Chinese carvings and pottery... Not a dinosaur...

And we have Proof of civilizations going back far past six thousand years...

Also there are many ways to date fossils... Carbon dating is accurate far past six thousand years...

Never heard of dinosaur bones found with soft tissue... Tht would be cool...

I don't doubt that Earth and civilization is older than 6K years, I just believe once you pass 6K you're into pre-flood times. Yep, I believe in the great deluge, fallen angels, giants and all that. You're probably referring to Golbeki Tepe. Which is dated at about 12K years ago.

That's because dragons underwent a rebranding to dinosaurs. You have to go back to 1800 dictionaries but unicorns did exist, they are called rhinos today. I did confuse China with Angkor Wat in Cambodia which has what appears to be a Stegosaurus on its temple.

Of all dating methods, Carbon 14 compared to carbon 12 is the most accurate. Nuclear Forensics is probably the second best. Magnetic Feilds are probably third. Then Volcanic Ash and Thermoluminescence. Ice Cores I think are totally off they say the rings denote yearly cycles, I think they reveal warmer and colder temps as in a thaw and then a freeze. The rest are just wild guesses, dung, pollen, chem warfare, and camel and horse, which I've never heard of before, admits its not accurate.

The soft tissue T-Rex, I believe was found in Montana but I would have to look it up. Did find an article from Nov 1983 saying they believe iron preserved the collagen.

Lots of sites in Peru. They have the megalith stones, coneheads, pottery with dinos, pottery and rocks with surgery going on and even brain surgery. They even discovered another ancient child sacrifice site within the last couple of years with about 200 skeletons. From the knife marks, they believe the hearts were cut out.

The last comment, look up Bosnia Pyramid, I found it fascinating. There are some YT vids on it also.

Here's a link that tells about an hypothesis for how this is possible:

I agree God did create us. No doubt, no question, no argument from me. If you follow all the who begat who and how long the patriarchs lived you come to about 6K years. I've done the math. So there has to be another explanation.

Some scholars believe there is a gap between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:26. It's a theory. But if it is true it would explain the different ages we get for Earth. It's up to students of the Bible and believers to resolve the issue. The atheist, secularist, and scientist are not going to do it for us.

It's just my own theory but Satan rebelled for a reason. Maybe the angels enjoyed earth before Adam was created and God gave it to him. Maybe that's what caused Satan to rebel and hate mankind.

I believe the Bible is God's word from cover to cover. He doesn't tell us everything, but He does give us clues. Otherwise, no faith is required. God has a plan and it will unfold according to His plan. Faith, prayer, and obedience may delay some things but the plan and timeclock continue. Adam and Eve lost dominion of the Earth and Jesus took it back. Now we're just watching the faithful and unfaithful battle it out until the end. The faithful become the children of God and are elevated and Satan and his followers and the unfaithful go into the pit.

All signs point the end is growing closer. Fukushima is still leaking into the ocean, the seas will die eventually, Israel is back as a nation, earthquakes are increasing, people are running to and fro, knowledge is increasing, but wisdom isn't. If Damascus gets destroyed today, I wouldn't be surprised. The stage is being set. I think Trump and Bibi will both survive the current efforts to remove them, but I think after they exit the world stage, the rapture will be very close, and the tribulation will begin. Even the poles are moving which may be causing the earthquakes to increase. Just my Christian worldview opinion.

The 'gap' you say should satisfy everyone to get from 6,000,000 to 6000 years. Nobody tells anybody everything they know, not even God.

Have you ever seen that 'one year' calendar that shows the earth's beginning at 0000 January 1 (Genesis 1:1) and shows what happens when in order - ending today? It shows humans, as we know them [aka Adam and Eve?] doesn't show on the calendar until about 11:55 PM December 31.

Nope, never seen it. And I didn't say the gap theory would satisfy everyone. I did say it was a theory. But thanks for your input. If you have a link to that one-year calendar, I'd watch it, if, it isn't too long.

It was many years ago and don't remember where it was. If over 20 years (probably was) it was a hard copy hanging on a wall some where. Wherever or however I saw it, it obviously stuck with me. I just never put the word 'gap' to it. But that term to me explains it [6M to 6K] completely.
And yes to what you said. Nothing will ever satisfy everyone. Some would, of course, never be satisfied, even if it were the truth. They try to find a way to shoot holes in any theory.
To me, the Sumerian story is just the impossible (cant't even be hypothetical) imagination of someone who wants put holes in the gap theory – they probably don't even want to read Genesis for fear they may change their mind.

Agree, all church attendance is down and for all denominations. I think the cure would be to change the way we do church. Make it into a Bible study and have the elders conduct it. Most elders are just the biggest donors, get them involved. If they have to know scriptures you have less chance of getting a bad preacher. Talk openly about AI and will it give rise to the image of the beast, will 5G really fry our brains. I learned more in Vacation Bible School that I did in church. Memorized and recited all the books in the OT for a yoyo or something. It's serious business but it can be made fun and educational too. Loved Bible drills as a kid.

Y360AZ makes me think of Yazoo, MS some relatives live there. Does it stand for Yuma, AZ?
