Members of the earth's earliest known civilization, the Sumerians, looked on in shock and confusion some 6,000 years ago as God, the Lord Almighty, created Heaven and Earth.

Because many Christians believe that the Earth is only about 6000 years old, The article is pointing out that the Sumerian civilization is older than that and so if "god" created the heavens and the Earth 6000 years ago even though they already existed prior to that point in time, the current inhabitants of that area during that time frame would be somewhat baffled at this "creator" "creating" that which already exists. We call it satire and I personally found it funny.

I understand the article... But what is the point of the post?
To deride and mock the beliefs of others?
To what end?

Seems juvenile and pointless...

For humor I would assume, I enjoyed it.

Edit: Not everything posted is posted with an agenda.

Belongs in the General Chitchat section then...

Not very good satire either...
I prefer the stuff that Slatten posts...
I think Buffalo (But am not 100% sure) pists some pretty good satire that he writes himself...
Haven't seen him lately... Hope he is ok...

I agree that it belongs in chit-chat, that is why I requested the move. It has been moved, not sure if it was my request or your's to be honest.

I didn't know we could request that...
How is it done?

Once again the atheist steps in to tell us what Christians believe. The time of Earth's arrival on the scene 5 billion years ago does not conflict with the first ten verses of Genesis.

Genesis 1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 2. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
Genesis 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
Genesis 9. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
Genesis 10. And God called the dry land Earth.

There is no possible way to determine from the Genesis text how much time elapsed between the first mention of earth (lower case) in verses 1 & 2, and when planet Earth (capitalized) appears in the 10th verse. The original English translators were fluent in ancient Hebrew and well understood that the language was not easily translated into English. Even so, they did a remarkable job.

Report Issue>Wrong section, needs to be moved, I would make a comment so they know it wasn't something "reportable" in the content of the post. Wouldn't want the poster to come under scrutiny over a simple wrong section posting.

I see... Good function..

One of my posts was moved once...(appropriately)

I agree about needing to make the comment as well...

There was nothing offensive in this post... Just felt that it was in the wrong section...

Thanks for informing me of how it's done...
I was under the impression that the 'report issue' function was only for language or attacks...

Not at all...

I am not sure what your personal beliefs are... But it is most annoying when one is labeled (unfairly) for something one has posted...

I have been labeled an athiest, a Protestant, a Muslim, and a liberal since I joined the OPP... Also a gay and a wuss (Gotta love Wolf Counselor)...

It can really get under one's skin when one's words are taken out of context...(Although I have made the same mistake on occassion..)
