Immigrants win one third of U.S. Nobel prizes in key fields

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - More than one-third of U.S. Nobel prize winners in chemistry, medicine and physics are immigrants, a new report shows.

The report, released Thursday by the National Foundation for American Policy, a conservative research group, shows that since 2000, two dozen immigrants won Nobels in those fields, out of 68 U.S. prizewinners in chemistry, medicine and physics.

The NFAP hopes the research shows the contributions of immigrants in important fields will bolster the chances for the passage of immigration reform, which has been mired in Congress this term.

While the U.S. Senate passed an immigration bill last year, the measure has stalled in the House of Representatives where Republicans remain deeply split over what to do about the more than 11 million undocumented U.S. residents. Many Republicans want to await the outcome of November’s elections before revisiting the issue.

2000 per day is the Border Patrols estimate of illegals slipping thru. To hell with your declining trivia, 2000 is 2000 too many.

Drones do not stop illegal entry they can locate them after they cross but then they're inside our border and get a hearing by a court already 700,000 hearings behind. They get a court date a few years hence and the great majority never show but are turned loose. Their mission is accomplished. Better to get caught other than at a legitimate border crossing.

The wall/fence is to slow down the flow of illegal alien's and drugs, not to totally stop it. There needs to be more boots on the ground to detect tunnels and breaches.

Someone failed to monitor and/or do their job if 14 tunnels were dug and went undetected. That shows the wall/fence slowed down the intruders. More than likely the tunnels were dug for drug traffickers and the border guard(s) responsible for the are were paid off not to report the tunnels.

More frequent patrols and better surveillance is needed be it more personel, drones or camers.

My tree farm is a private buisness since 1802 and I pay close to 38% of my income to the Federal government not counting the taxes on fuel, tires and other state taxes.

My income tax on a private buisness was over $335,000.00 last year alone to the Federal government (IRS) not counting other taxes I paid.

All fines and taxes are paid into the government coffers be it Federal, state or city.
