Just another divisive tactic.
It was during the culture wars of the late '60s and early '70s that the flag lapel pin truly took off and became the simultaneously uniting and divisive symbol that it is today. Republican candidates in the 1970 congressional race wore them as a symbol of patriotic solidarity against anti-Vietnam protesters like Abbie Hoffman — who donned a shirt made of the flag — or others who stitched the flag onto the seat of their pants. But it was Richard Nixon who brought the pin to national attention. According to Stephen E. Ambrose's biography Nixon, the President got the idea for sporting a lapel pin from his chief of staff, H.R. Haldeman, who had noticed a similar gesture in the Robert Redford film The Candidate. Nixon commanded all of his aides to go and do likewise. The flag pins were noticed by the public, and many in Nixon's supposed "silent majority" began to similarly sport flags on their lapels. Over the next few decades, the pin sporadically surged in popularity. During the Gulf War, they sold briskly alongside flag patches and yellow ribbons.
Then came 9/11. Taking a page from the Nixon Administration, George W. Bush and his aides all donned pins. So did many anchors on Fox News, though not Bill O'Reilly, who said at the time "I'm just a regular guy. Watch me and you'll know what I think without wearing a pin." ABC News, on the other hand, prohibited its on-air reporters from pinning on the red, white, and blue, citing a desire to maintain journalistic credibility.
As befits a tradition that reached its height during the Nixon years, flag lapel pins have — fairly or not — become to many a shibboleth of America's War on Terror, and a symbol of the "either you're with us or against us" ethos that has often prevailed since September 11, 2001. And while the country hasn't yet reached anything close to a consensus on what a flag pin says about its wearer, Barack Obama seems to have discovered that symbols matter — even if one doesn't agree with the way they are used.

Well, a couple of weeks later he admitted to lying about the bone spur's when in actuality he fell down during some game or other sustaining a supposed knee injury. It's kinda tough to believe anything a liar says. What I find interesting is the usual culprits insulting Trump for not serving, are the non serving as well. Much like slick Willie and the halfrican

To old Marine and all the other vets on OPP, both sides..

the very life of trump is a vile insult to of us who served in Vietnam...

Not only did he bribe a doctor to declare "bone spurs", his insistence that his "danger zone" was equal to all who ran through the jungles of Vietnam.

What did he do that was so dangerous??

He was proud to say that boffing all the sluts in New York and dodging STDs was an amazing and harrowing accomplishment.. fully as dangerous as what was faced by those who did serve..

Drop the politics for a moment and think what a rotten B****** a person must be to say something like that in an interview..

I find that anything coming out of the mind, mouth or pen of all Progressives is not to be taken at face value because their hatred of Trump blinds them to any objective truth or good that he may have ever accomplished. The only thing you want to add to your "hate Trump" etched in stone resume is negative, negative, negative. It makes no sense to you by he ran for president except to build his fortune. You're going to push America into violence!

It was under Obama's watch that the Russians built a base in Venezuela and took Territorial rights in the Antarctic.
Russia embedded deep into Syria during the Obama "don't cross this line" OK "now this line" then another line.
Liberals have short term memories how and when Russia made its greatest expansion....... During Obama rein.

Now Trump makes efforts to find ways to get Russia to work with the U. S. In removing ISIS, puts the most aggressive sanctions on Russia in history. Then is accused of being pro Russia when he does a partial relax of only a small part of the sanctions and Co-efforts to eradicate ISIS.
All the while only a few years back the Obama administration where filling their bank accounts with millions and Obama removed most every sanction.

Where have you been the last decade? No offense intended. The anti-Trump talking points fabricated by the Msnbc, CNN are in direct conflict with records released by the "Freedom of Information
As well as the international media reporting.

CNN)President Barack Obama took unprecedented steps Thursday to retaliate against alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election, prompting vows from Russian authorities that Moscow will respond in kind.

The administration described Russia's involvement as "Significant Malicious Cyber-Enabled Activities" and sanctioned four Russian individuals and five Russian entities for what it said was election interference. The administration also ordered 35 Russian diplomats to leave the country and two Russian compounds are being closed.
This is the first time the names of Russian officials involved in the hacking have become public on the sanctions list.
"Russia's cyberactivities were intended to influence the election, erode faith in US democratic institutions, sow doubt about the integrity of our electoral process, and undermine confidence in the institutions of the US government," a White House statement said. "These actions are unacceptable and will not be tolerated."

WASHINGTON — President Obama struck back at Russia on Thursday for its efforts to influence the 2016 election, ejecting 35 suspected Russian intelligence operatives from the United States and imposing sanctions on Russia’s two leading intelligence services.

The administration also penalized four top officers of one of those services, the powerful military intelligence unit known as the G.R.U.

Intelligence agencies have concluded that the G.R.U. ordered the attacks on the Democratic National Committee and other political organizations, with the approval of the Kremlin, and ultimately enabled the publication of the emails it harvested to benefit Donald J. Trump’s campaign.

The expulsion of the 35 Russians, who the administration said were spies posing as diplomats and other officials, and their families was in response to the harassment of American diplomats in Russia, State Department officials said.
