Why the Democrats? I don't hear of anyone protesting. Most Americans do not know that event is (or was) actually happening. I didn't til I read it here and looked it up.
I do tend to agree with your sentiment that it seems odd. We (the US) have, at best, an ambivalent relationship with the Saudis. They did provided the ideology, funds, and hijackers for 9/11 yet were never held to account. To this day it seems we are beholden to Saudi oil.
Why turn it partisan? I suspect most Americans would think it inappropriate....if they know about it.

I've come to expect such abominations in New York City.
The radical islamists have painted a big red target on NYC.
I stay as far away from there as possible.

YES Indeed, they are asking for it!
When this group of animals are allowed to. by-pass permits of all kinds, put structures like these anywhere they please, and thumb their noses at city and state laws, then definitely yes! New York is asking for trouble.
I am guessing a dirty bomb during a parade through the city. The parade members being suicidal maniacs
I hope Law Enforcement is keeping an eye on their actions and thoughts, just as they call out the thought police on Americans.
