What’s wrong with this picture?

Trump gave up his Christmas vacation trying to close a deal with the Dems to fund the border wall. The Dem’s went home to celebrate.

Trump has offered concessions, but the Dem’s have flat out refused to consider them. They refuse to negotiate.

While the President remains in the Oval Office To Close the deal, the Democrats bask in the sun on the beaches in Puerto Rico.

Their obvious lack of concern for America and the Federal Worker is appalling!

You guys talk tough, but if the shutdown meant that your doctor would not treat you because Medicare was unable to reimburse them for your visit, or your Social Security check was not mailed to you for two, three, or four months, you would understandably be upset. The president is the problem, and does not know how to escape the problem he caused. He is embarrassed, but too stubborn to compromise.

Unintended: you sure like to toss around the word Dictator.
If Trump is a dictator, his opponents in the Dem party are terrorists and traitors. I don't like using such language but you should choose your terms more judiciously.

Trump is rude and crude. He is always angry at someone. He addresses his critics by tweeting nasty replies. He sends his chief of staff to fire people or announces it on twitter.
What he should have done is veto the bill that both houses had voted on and then call the meeting to discuss border security, including but not limited to a wall. Shutting down the government is the act of a cowardly dictator. If he declares a national emergency that is another dictatorial act Do you really want a government shutdown every time Congress disagrees with him?
Trump is rude and crude. He is always angry at so... (show quote)

The onliest goal of the Resistors is to do what they can to hurt the People who voted for the President and his chances of re-election.

Silly pundits call it "Trump's Wall"...but in all reality, we the voters put him there because that's what we wanted before Trump even announced his candidacy.

And now the Progs have policy fluidity.

Because they voted for a Wall before Trump too.

When Pelosi made that ignorant opening statement, Trump walked refusing to waste his time. Why bother when all Pelosi & Schumer would do is obstruct?

trump had the mouth going and demanding his wall before anything else was said.

then he was told no wall money in the bill congress passed and McConnell has sitting on his desk rather then following govt procedure..

so the orange con made no attempt, only demanded his way. when not given it, he walked out..

No guts, no balls and no love for the country..

WRONG! Both houses passed a spending bill which Trump said he would sign.

Both house and Congress did not pass the spending bill

Unintended Consequences wrote:

You are wrong both the House and Congress DID NOT PASS a spending bill for the President to pass. Then when he got it he changed his mind because there was no funding for the wall.

WRONG THE HOUSE BILL NEVER REACHED CONGRESS. For a vote.

Unintended Consequences wrote:

At that point he should have vetoed the bill.

The President can only Veto a bill from the Senate and not the House.

Unintended Consequences wrote:

Then congress could have overridden the veto.

For Congress to overturn a Presidential Veto it takes a 3/4 vote.

Unintended Consequences wrote:

That's how our government is supposed to work. For two years the Republican wimps in charge did not have the balls to oppose Trump on anything.

When the Congress is 50 Republicans and 49 Dim-O-Crats and it takes 60 votes to approve a bill not much gets done on the Republican agenda.

Uninteded Consequences wrote:

So just before Christmas he shuts down the government. People had already scheduled vacations.

President Trump was at the White House prepaired to sign the bill.

Unintended Consequences wrote:

Pelosi is saying no because the House of Reps is in charge of expenditures which the Senate has to approve or not.

Nancy Pelosi refused to let the spending bill pass the House.

Uninteded Consequences wrote:

The only power the president has is to sign or veto the bill. But since Trump thinks he is a king he shuts down the government instead.

President Trump didn't shut down the government, Nancy Peloski and Chuck Schumer had the honor of doing that.

When he met with a group of congress people the great negotiator walked out of the meeting because he didn't immediately get his way.

At the meeting of the House of Represenatives Nancy Peloski and Chuck Schumer both stated "No wall, no negotiations." So President left the meeting. No use wasting his time when the Dim-O-Crats have already made up their minds.

marine, truth,,,,, congress passed a bill. McConnell is sitting on it. May have got a Senate vote but has not been given to trump..

If a bill went from senate to congress, that is a different bill..

Did you even read what I said about how the government is supposed to work.? Have you ever looked at the terrain of Southwestern United States and seen how impossible it is build a wall along the entire border? Don't you care that most of the population does not want a wall. We want border security which we are willing to consider but Mr Trump insists that it be a wall and nothing else. Does it make no difference to you that your dear leader does not take the advice of any experts but simply says it's my way or the highway. That is no way to govern a country. If that's the kind of country you want why don't you move to North Korea or Russia where the leader has total control over the people.

Blownwolf,

You’re right they passed bills to open the government with little or nothing to support our border. Peeloosly and Upchuck think rows of wet toilet paper are enough to stop the invaders.

Unintended: there you go with references to dictatorship again. Now you apply it to me. I know what I hear. I don't assume its what the majority believe.
But I take most polls with a grain of salt, otherwise we would be talking of President Hillary.
Who are the pollsters? Media. University. Or political party shills.
Of course when you join the ranks of supreme haters you will believe anythingbyour side says.
Fascinating this new assault on Trump: now he's a Russian agent. A mole controlled by Putin.
Or he's a dupe.
Sounds like Robert Welsh if John Birch Society fame. Either Pres. Eisenhower was a conscious dupe or unconscious dupe of the Communist Conspiracy.
Your side has learned McCarthyism very well indeed.

Let's see anyone build a wall down the middle of this river. One side is Mexico, one side is U.S.

Oh come on UC, are you not bright enough to realize there are sections of the border that would not require a wall? Sheesh, you are a one trick pony!
