My daughter-in-law is from Canada. She was diagnosed with cancer about ten years ago, before she and my son got married. It took that horrible Canadian healthcare system almost 24 hours to get her in to see a cancer specialist. It took them almost a week to start treatments. I don't recall all the treatments but meds were involved and she lost all her hair due to radiation treatments. After about an entire year, she was done with the treatments. Since five years without a recurrence is considered a cure, she is apparenetly cured, for it has been ten years. But the system is realy crazy. They didn't charge her a cent.

I'm going on vacation... Will be back in a week... Remind me to tell some stories then...

States should be allowed to decide for themselves...
Look into the history of the Canadian healthcare system...

Take care until then...

The Canadian healthcare system is good as long as you don't get seriously ill or know a good doctor who will push for you. Even people with serious issues can wait weeks and sometimes months for CAT scans, MRIs or surgery. A lot of Canadians go across the border where they can get treated right away.

I can't tell whether you think that's good or bad treatment...it sounds like at least as good as you are going to get here.

I have a friend from Canada who has a dual citizenship, he can go to either and says he would go to Canada for procedural stuff like cancer. He thinks Canada has a better approach to what they use to treat cancer.

I think they worked well in the time frames you give..

Also, amen, she is cured.. Perhaps a follow up visit is in order..??

They didn’t charge her a cent is very goid as well...

If I may ask why do you feel it was terrible?? Without it what would have been the end result.. Gratitude seems more in line..

I suspect certain delays when a person is hanging on to that terrible Diagnoses is enough to put anyone on edge..

Grateful she got treatment and is cancer free.. And insidious illness!!!

It's a regional thing like Kaiser is here. Go to a high population area and it's different than a lower density area.

Kaiser is the predominate health provider here and I must say they are well organised and timely as long as you have insurance.. Their bread and butter of course..

Colorado first opted out of BO care and partnered with Kaiser for their medicaid and health insurance for the elderly if they can not afford it.. Premium payments for them is Negligible at best..That coverage is over and above Medicare which they also consider that premium and do help the elderly if needed.

Thanks Linda.... We have been delayed a few days... My dog is having health issues (she is 14 and considered ancient for her breed)... We would never forgive ourselves if we left while she was sick and the worst happened...

On the bright side, an old friend that I never expected to run into again has shown up... He is on holiday ftom India and chose here! At least it's only -16 C today...

Enjoy your snow(man)
