What Shutdown ?

Anyone affected financially by the so called shutdown, has my sympathy.

But anyone who has not prepared for such unforseen circumstances should let this be a lesson.

Anyone can simply sniff the air and know that there is a foul stench of chaos and a climate of uncertainty these days.

Preparedness is a priority even in times of stability.

So much more so in this era of unrest and incivility.

Nothing is preventing any of us from preparing for the inevitable.

And if you weren't prepared before this most recent event, you've got no one but yourself to blame.

Agree! People should always be prepared for the unexpected including partial government shutdowns, illnesses, accidents, layoffs, etc. It starts by living within your means.

Kind of ironic and a little titilating to see the reversal of means for the people that work at social security! Perhaps this will be a lesson or reminder when they take someone’s social security away for overpayment for a year, without consideration of a payment plan!! Just sayin

So if a government take home pay of $500 to $750 and two kids in what way do they prepare. Not sure where these people cut in order to prepare.

So give me a hypothetical budget of how a government employee can budget there wages to pay for a government shutdown that Trump said he would take credit for and not blame democrats. (MAKE MEXICO PAY)

So typical finances that are mandatory

Rent/Mortgage
Food
Clothing
Medical cost
Electric bill
Water bill
Car payment
State and local taxes

If you can find extra money in this budget I would be saving for my children’s education not a Trump shutdown/ manufactured crisis

(SO PLEASE GIVE ME A BUDGET FOR SOMEONE EARNING $52,000 a year. Oh and by the way in the southern states the median income is actually the lowest of the 50 states at $38,000 a year.

So give me a budget at $38,000 a year.

(CAN YOU COME UP WITH A BUDGET AT $38,000.)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR WELL THOUGHT OUT POST SO I ASSUME YOU WILL HAVE SOME GREAT IDEAS HOW TO HELP THESE PEOPLE OR EDUCATE THEM AS TO HOW TO PREPARE THERE MONTHLY BUDGE FOR A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN.

Again Thank you and I look forward to your budget recommendations

I 'AM' a government worker.

A contractor to be specific.

All of our D.O.T. projects are on hold.

I've been prepping for over 30 years.

And the only thing I recommend in regard to budgeting on an income that is less than $50k is, ' get a job that pays $100k'.

When you think like a plebeian, you will certainly live like one.

When you limit your determination, you deny yourself the luxury of self sufficiency.

If it's your choice to be a federal employee, and live off of the taxpayers dime, then it's no one's fault if you haven't prepared for what you should have already known could happen.

We have institutions in place to assist those who are indigent and unresourceful.

It's called welfare.

All of the furloughed employees are eligible for assistance until their pay has been restored.

Maybe they will learn from this little debacle and understand the value of preparedness.

Nationalize the Federal Reserve and "debt" will cease as "money." Currency-printing will have a standard thereby inducing stability in the economy. Slowly, the work-force will wean itself off the "benefit addiction" and self-reliance will return.

It's a nice dream. Pass the OPM (other people's money).
