Fake Shutdown...Ignorance Abounds

Come on, budgets are up to congress, the house drafts the budget and the senate ratifies it, they have the opportunity to make any changes, but they vote on whether there is enough bipartisan support to pass it.

The budget is done, it has been done in a bipartisan manner, the senate already passed the exact same bill Pelosi passed in the house to send over to McConnell. It is not McConnell's job to run interference for Trump and try to figure out if Trump will sign a bill or not. It is both the house and senate's responsibility to do what's right for the country and it's people...and act like a check on a presidential overreach and abuse of power.

This thing isn't even close, this bill to keep government open would pass with plenty of support to override a Trump veto. So then tell me how this is anyone else's problem that this is about a symbolic wall?

And that is not the end of the wall by any means. Dems supported $25 billion for a wall as long as immigration issues were addressed, that is the total border security package...sophisticated border security and creating clear guidelines for guest workers and legal status issues.

Trump's wall is an idiotic power play that's about wasting billions of dollars, Trump has not even put a plan together for how that money would be spent, that's how symbolic it is. Mr best businessman and builder can't even manage a wall project in a sensible manner, there is no plan.

It is being suggested that government be reopened, and prioritize border security, that does not mean get government opened and forget all about security.

Apparently 30% of the country is this ignorant that they can't understand how border security can be made a priority.

It seems that you, like many others, have forgotten what happened under the Reagan administration. The Democrats had total control and told the administration all you have to do is approve the border plan and we will give you the money to provide for all of those agencies the funds they will need to install the programs that we will approve in this immigration bill. The Democrats never followed through on that promise. Why should anyone believe that they would follow what the Democrats say they will do. Nancy already told Trump even if he were to approve their bill, they wouldn't give him money for the wall/fence. So where does that leave us to believe. No wall or fence, that is not negotiating.

Border security is made a priority according to whether or not the house and the Senate deems it to be a priority by their vote ,if they have enough votes to pass it,I think it is 3/5ths In the Senate,60% this makes it fillibuster proof. To override a presidential veto you need a 2/3rds majority In both Chambers a bill can pass with a simple generic majority,218 in the house and 51 in the Senate. As stated it might be fiiiibustered if it only has the generic majority this is why it is commonly stated that you need 3/5ths in the senate(60%).

Why does the thought "elections have consequences" and "I have a cell phone and a pen" keep ringing in my head?
