WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he has ordered a halt to federal disaster relief for California’s wildfires unless state officials involved in forest management “get their act together.”
“Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forest fires that, with proper Forest Management, would never happen,” Trump wrote on Twitter, a day after western governors asked for greater federal investment in fire prevention.
“Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!” the president said, referring to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

California has suffered a series of increasingly massive, deadly blazes in the past two years that have destroyed homes and businesses and put burnt areas at a greater risk of mudslides. Governor Gavin Newsom said 167 people have been killed by fires and floods over that time.
Trump’s move targets a state that is home to some of his biggest political rivals, including Democratic U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is leading the fight in Congress against Trump’s demands for $5.7 billion in funding for a border wall on the Mexican border.
Newsom, also a Democrat, said at his swearing-in ceremony this week that the Trump administration is “hostile to California’s values.”

FEMA, which provides grants for home repairs or rental assistance after disasters, said it could not respond to queries about Trump’s ----MORE---

Trumpy is right, bad booby. If Californians would practice better forestry management, instead of buckling under to ignorant greenies' demands, their home wouldn't be burning down.

Besides, doesn't anybody in californication have homeowners INSURANCE? Why should the taxpayers be on the hook for their stupidity? Or, are the taxpayers on the hook for bailing out the private, for profit INSURANCE corporations?

I understand that the money is needed to pay the firefighters fighting the forest fires and rebuild roads damaged by the fires, not rebuild homes.

That is not what was said.

"FEMA, which provides grants for home repairs or rental assistance after disasters, said it could not respond to queries about Trump’s ----MORE---"

What the hell then is their property taxes used for? Californication has some of the highest property taxes in the nation. Here in Texas many of the smaller communities have unpaid volunteer fire fighters and departments. But, believe me, where firemen are paid with taxpayer money, they are paid very well.

The same thing with idiots that build houses in flood zones or along the coast. Why should the taxpayers be on the hook to pay for their stupidity because private, for profit casualty INSURANCE corporations will not cover them?

Just as building in flood zones, any idiot should realize it is insane to build where there is danger of your house burning down if one is prohibited from ensuring (ie forest management) it doesn't. So why should the taxpayers be on the hook for the stupidity of some one building a house where there is danger of it burning down or flooding?

http://forestunlimited.org/opinions/california-forest-statistics/

57% of California’s forests are owned by the US Forest Service. That bare statistic says very little however.

It is the distribution of the forestry that is more influential - and the condition of the forests. Within the stats are 6 National Parks, which are maintained at public expense. Many of the forests near population Centers are state owned. California has been full of environmental activists that have been a primary driving force in ‘leaving forests natural’ which is a significant contributor to fuel accumulation. They have also been prominent in forcing the closure of public lands to grazing - ranchers used to run cattle under license in most public lands. Grazing significantly reduces the accumulation of brush and undergrowth. Grazing in this way also produces healthier meat than cramming cattle into CAFOs.

Activists are causing harm in many ways.

It's believed that the fire was started by power lines. The electrical company may be on the hook as by contract they are supposed to maintain their right of way for their power lines on state or federal land. I hear the company is trying to sell now and limit their financial risk. It's been a few weeks but I think one of the owners had a funny name... Rothschild, yeah that's it. I also heard the Gavin Newsom is Nancy Pelosi's nephew by marriage. It's a small world after all.

The truth, a novel concept for some left writing authors.
The new Cali governor publicly stated that California would be the first state to be a sanctuary state.
Trump threatened "threatened" to stop fema funds from the camp fire.

Gee just a few facts removed.

I'm with Trump, just drop the sanctuary (anti Federal law) and the threat goes away.

California owns over 50% land or non federal and has forestry rights to thinning, just as every state does. With exceptions to national treasures on federal land that requires states to petition the Feds.

Someone else said it right... The green eco freaks that only know extremes hold the power.
