Open Border? Or the Wall? A solution....

So many people stop listening when they hear what they want to hear instead of listening to all the words. For example, the President is not proposing a 2,000 mile physical border.... but, people hear the word wall and then they stop listening...they picture a wall 800 feet tall and 100 feet wide.... but walls are much more than a physical barrier, and President Trump made it clear the money he is asking for would go to replacing some of the physical barriers, but would also go toward patrols (human and mechanical), immigration judges and for the housing, medical and transportation costs associated with those detained at the border.

If a person is seeking asylum, they do not behave as criminals. I understand your position, now understand mine. I welcome legal immigration. I do not welcome someone who breaks into my home and then demand that I pay for them, their children, and extended family for the rest of their lives. You seem to be okay with the conditions they put on the US... so, with that in mind... the list was prepared with you in mind.

Here's yours and Trumps mistake..........equating a wall/barrier with border security. Why do you think we have Customs and BORDER Patrol? Yes, BOTH borders need to be tightened up, but our own history with physical barriers has proven they don't work, and there are far more effective methods available - namely - increasing the number of humans monitoring both borders.

A wall will not keep out asylum seekers, who can come by sea if they can't find a way over, under or around a physical barrier. BTW, I haven't heard of a single Democrat espousing an open border policy, that's a false narrative generated by Trump and others. Every funding bill proposed had border security funding in it, several with broad bipartisan support.

Answer this; if the situation is so dire at the southern border.........................why not deal with it NOW, instead of waiting 3 years ( or more ) for a wall?
Here's yours and Trumps mistake..........equating ... (show quote)

No, I do not really ...., or rally as you say, care who you voted against. That is what the election came down to... not to whom we thought would be the better President if election, but which one was not as bad as the rest. President Trump was not my first choice, although he has turned out much better than the last 3 we have had. I did not like his crude remarks or his checkered personal life.... but the alternatives, they had no plans nor could they defend their views on how to raise our economy, the constant influx of drugs, protests, riots, to name only a few. Have you noticed, Chicago is not the murder capitol of the world anymore... the only rioting has been from Democrats and Liberals who can not accept that President Trump was voted in Constitutionally. Gas prices are down, housing market has rebound, jobs are being created.... there is a real chance of North Korea pulling back from wanting to fire nukes at Hawaii and California.... and Russia has not invaded its neighbors in months. On a good 4 year tenure, or 8, the last three presidents has not accomplished this.... but, in two years.... under President Trump, things are looking a lot better. If you want to live in a nation where only the common worker is represented... I hear that Cuba is still a Communist nation.

I think that Washington D.C. should be right on the Texas Mexican border or maybe they could move Washington D.C. to San Diego CA. instead and be on the border there. Then they can take down all of the ugly fencing around Washington D.C. and be more free. Also eliminate all police in the new capital and they could save lots of money for their pensions that way.

the only wall being built is the wall of division in this country.

Your best black Mob Boss, Barak Obama has a new 10 ft high wall around his rented house in DC which violates the zoning codes. According to your logic Obama, your party's messiah, is dividing the country. Conservatives have known Obama was a DIVIDER for the past 10 yrs while your were asleep. While your head does not dwell in the hypocrisy of your Democratic Party you know not that many of your elite Democratic Party leaders live within gated communities, wall enclosures within the exterior perimeter and locks on windows and doors as a third inter fortresses. And U accept this hypocrisy within your own party? Tom: a good guy. As you state there is mental division, but physical separation is alive and operative, especially among the elitists. A gun was put to my head and I was robbed of $5000. I needed more walls around my home. The suspect, I tracked down but the cops found out nothing. And U don't want a wall to protect your children from illegal foreign invaders? I can't understand your thinking.

The 10 foot wall does not exist around Obamas house. --It is a made up lie.. Obama was not a divider but he is Black and that drove haters nuts.. My children are safe. There is not an invasion of illegals that a wall is going to stop. . I will agree though that walls such as around gated communitys do help people from being burglerized.. The wall on the southern border is being promoted through fear. --Drug deallers and rapists are coming!!.. You don't have to understand my thinking and I can't change your thinking so we are even.. We will get a wall or we won't. I really hate seeing our country going down the path of suspicion of foriegners and outright bigotry. This is the United States--The beacon of hope and mercy. Guess not any more.

I enjoyed this comment...Many of your posts are rather agreeable (though sometimes overly hyperbolic)

Agreed... There are those who are promoting the need for a wall via fear tactics...
But there are also those who are using logical reasoning in their promotion of the wall...
I (personally) believe suspicion is warranted towards those who have already proven unlawful in their method of entering the country...

Divider is a very difficult term for me to define...
I didn't care for some of the statements made by POTUS 44 and it had nothing to do with his being half-black...
I pray that your (and all other) children are safe and healthy and happy...

Your brother from the north, Kyle

No connection,Kyle..Just wondering why Liberals/Democrats worry more about illegals' state of well being rather then about American citizens' state of well being...Just dont get it...

While I can understand and sympathize with the sentiment, I fail to see how attacking an individual for statements/platforms that they have not espoused furthers the debate in any fashion...

(admittedly I have no knowledge of the relationship between 'coosbaytom' and yourself)
