Can respect the office without necessarily respecting the person holding it. for instance I have no respect, nada for Justice Roberts,

I agree with you on the activist statement...

But the SCOTUS has suffered from a lack of proper respect (look at the Kavanaugh confirmation and the filth (my opinion) that was slung for example)...

I hope that in the future all members of SCOTUS can be treated with due respect for their POSITION...

Agreed...

But the position should always be treated with dignity...

Kind of like a mother-in-law

Easier said than done. Believe me distance helps.

Well... With any luck there will be a new member of SCOTUS before the year is over...

I would not enjoy a SCOTUS battle in 2020...

The bar is just a foot or so off the ground...
It's that darn pedestal she's got it set up on that makes it impossible to reach...

LOL. I guess I shouldn't be too upset...mine's been gone for a few years now. She truly did not like me and thought her daughter should've sought a better deal, but after 44 years, I figure that's a moot point now.

Mine Liked me fine until the kid came along...
Different child-rearing ideas...

44 is amazing... My Congratulations to you and your Mrs... Seems to me she made the Smart choice...
I'm just rounding the corner on decade one... But looking forward to many more years... And who knows... Maybe I can get the pedestal classified as anti-something and let the progressives take it down

Haha, see how I made it sound like I was a huge part of our being together so long. The fact of the matter is I married up (her Mom was probably right after all), but I learned early that it's easy to be happy, if you make sure your Sweety is happy first! Simple logic, but tried and true! There'll be times when you forget that, but just make sure it's something that doesn't get to be a habit! All the best to you and your Bride.

Ruth Bader Ginsberg makes surprise move (health MELTDOWN!?)

In a move that has shocked insiders, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has announced she will miss oral arguments for the first time in more than 25 years Monday. She continues to recuperate from last month’s lung cancer surgery.

The stunning move has confirmed rumors that Ginsburg’s health is in a downward spiral — and led to speculation on whether the 85-year-old justice will resign.

Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said Monday the 85-year-old Ginsburg is continuing to recuperate and work from home after doctors removed two cancerous growths from her left lung on Dec. 21.

Ginsburg was discharged from a New York hospital on Christmas day but still isn’t well enough to work.

Should the court’s eldest justice call it quits, it would give President Donald Trump a historic third Supreme Court nomination in just two years.

Ginsburg had two earlier cancer surgeries in 1999 and 2009 that did not cause her to miss court sessions. At her advanced age, Ginsburg’s recovery could be long and difficult.

She also has broken ribs on at least two occasions, including just two months ago.

The court said doctors found the growths on Ginsburg’s lung when she was being treated for fractured ribs she suffered in a fall at her office on Nov. 7.

“The Supreme Court justices are back on the bench Monday for the first time in the new year. The court will hear arguments in two cases. The first is a battle over the preemption federal and state laws and the second case is over whether fair debt collection laws apply to nonjudicial foreclosures, which do not require a court’s approval,” The Hill reported.

What are your thoughts?

Is it time for Ruth Bader Ginsburg to resign and enjoy her remaining years?

Or should she continue to work despite her rapidly failing health?

Is it time for Ruth Bader Ginsburg to retire?

I hope she recovers, however, she should retire. She has served faithfully and for a long time. There should be an age limit as well as a rule requiring politicians with terminally debilitating illnesses to step down (Ted Kennedy comes to mind).

I also hope that the President nominates Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court.

I like her too... (Amy Coney Barrett)
But doubt he (Trump) will nominate her...

Personally I believe that we will see another jonny mcstain play out here. She’ll not go until they bag her. I respect the office but have had to live with her terrible interpretations of the Constitution.
Her impact on America will be felt for decades after she’s gone.
She’s the poster girl for exactly why we need term limits on ALL govt. positions.
