Two Causes Are Global, and Two Are Local. Ice melting from land into the ocean, warming waters that expand, a slowing Gulf Stream, and sinking land all contribute to sea level rise. Although a global phenomenon, the amount and speed of sea level rise varies by location, even between the East and the West Coasts. Why don't we ever hear about land sinking??

I dunno, but when water rises over land...isn't that land sinking?

I suspect that the Great Potter who has fashioned this earth for billions of years and changed the face of it periodically, as He wished, has had oceans and seas in what is desert land now. I remember when I was a kid, going to a place east of Bakersfield Ca and hunting sharks teeth. How the Creator moves water is up to Him.

Not really. Land experiences uplift and the opposite. I can't remember the term. The elevation would have to be measured but it's never considered in a determination of the coastal effects of ocean levels in global warming discussions. Although, I will confess to not having researched it.

There are lands sinking, here are some...
Is Venice really sinking?
Climate change challenges are sinking the city of Venice. The Italian city of Venice is prone to frequent flooding because it has sunk five inches over the last century, but it is also grappling with a new challenge: sea-level rise, caused by climate change, which increases the severity.https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/climate-change-challenges-sinking-city-venice

Five Pacific islands lost to rising seas as climate change hits

We've known Venice was going down for a hundred years or more. But these islands, I saw no mention of their true elevation; that being was there downward movement of the land not related to said sea level rise. We need to remember that water seeks it's lowest level. Exactly how can there be variable sea level rises in different pats of the world unless there is no accounting for sinking land?

Again, land goes up and land goes down due to forces like continental drift and under ground activity. I spoke to a friend yesterday who teaches geology and he pointed out how important it is to consider this when dealing with sea level rises of only mm in a decade. A climate change alarmist doesn't want to note that the land has undergone sinking over the past hundred years due to geologic effects. They'd rather just say the ocean is rising.

That's not true... it's not about changes, of course changes occur, but here is a word for you to think of when it comes to global warming and man's effects...Acceleration...yes all these things occur, but now at accelerated rates.

Another example is the dying of the coral reefs.

No safe haven for coral from the combined impacts of warming and ocean acidification.

Corals reefs face double threats from rising atmospheric carbon dioxide: severe heat stress and ocean acidification. Severe heat stress causes bleaching (the expulsion of corals’ food-producing algae). Ocean acidification (the drop in seawater pH as the ocean absorbs carbon dioxide) reduces the availability of calcium minerals for skeleton building and repair. The combination of these two threats poses a Catch-22 for coral reefs. In many cases, the longer a reef is protected from severe heat stress, the more time the ocean has to absorb carbon dioxide, and the greater the threat the reef will face from acidification by that point in time. These reefs have been thousands, possibly millions of years in the making. They are an essential part to the balance of our eco-systems and atmosphere.

The coral is a concern, but pollution is the killer, not CO2. Coral is made of carbonate salts. It requires CO2.

Completely not true, but if you had bothered to have gone to that link, it would've taken you to a place where it would've explained the whole progressive effects of how global warming is the direct reason for it.

Your link is nothing but a huge assumption that CO2 emissions causes warming.

I just read an article which says the Mayan civilization disappeared due to climate change. Lol!! If true, what does that do to the assumption?

If you do a little looking you can find that the Antarctic once had ferns and palm trees growing on it. And very large animals. And before you start claiming it was in a different location it was right where it is now!
One more thing, it has vast mountains of coal. On top of that, last year a plane with a new device that measures gravity did many passes once Antarctica found a 290-mile wide creator from a meteor that hit 250
million years ago, it's under 3 miles of ice! That was the same date that the Great Dying occurred. That event killed 95% of all life on earth and today the left claim it was do to Global warming. The truth is the meteor hit sent a shock wave right through the earth and caused the crust to rupture on the opposite side and spew lava out for about one million years polluting the air and the sea. So, all the lefts doom and gloom is a big load of you know what. They think we are dumb and will buy their crap.

Seems you refuse to believe continental drift also, not only Climate Change, but anything that does not fit what you wish was true..

You are indeed a hopeless product..

Say's an ignorant Lunny left wing nut job that thinks freedom is bad for people. I bet you're a member of the American Communist Party.

Good morning Jack,,,

Why in the heck would you think I was a member of the communist party??

I have never made any comment that would imply that..

You must be echoing the right wing party of hate, they have told you all these lies about America and all who are not thinking just like you..

And told you to believe.. and so as the foolish person you are, following their instructions..

try seeing the facts and thinking for yourself....

O' it must be the words you use or what you say. Seems you have a problem with the truth as well.
