Thanks for the picture Lindajoy it brings back memories of my skiing days although I never skied Steamboat I would have liked to have .
I always skied Winter Park Mary Jane Keystone Breckenridge Copper Mountain Silver Creek .
I won a Bronze and Silver metal in the NASTAR down hill racing but sad to say I like .03 tenths of a second getting a Gold Grrrrrr I tried and tried but to no avail !

No one in the family tree was ever wasteful. They never went without yet never splurged on useless things. They worked hard and never borrowed a single dime.
The first gasoline vehicle we ever owned was a 1932 Hudson. The owner was robbed and killed and his wife couldn't drive so grandpaw bought it so the widow had money to bury her husband and go back to her folks in New Orleans.
Grandpaw finally mastered driving it and converted it into a pickup truck. He bought a new 1941 Cheverolet from a single man who went into the military service. Grandpaw was turned down when he tried to enlist in 1942.
In 1946 grandpaw bought 12 surplus Willie's jeeps for use around the farm. They were all scrapped for parts for the other ones. I am not sure when they were finally disposed of. Around 1965-1967 i think.
We still use horses to check on the trees and fire lanes. We have two John Deere tractors to plow fire lanes and Bush hog brush and grass. Also to plow and plant.
There are four pickup trucks, 6 18 wheelers with trailers for shipping all are equipped with shortwave communication along with the fire tower.
Right now the tower is manned because it is fire season. The men stay worm with hot coffee and electric heaters. Fire season will end in late march when things begin to "green up" again. We work with the State Forrest service in cross section any smoke we see. They can pinpoint the fire down to an acre.
We havent had a large forest fire in a few years now.

We don't give Christmas donations anymore since little seems to get to the needy kids.
Every year we have a huge Christmas party and we know all the needy families in the area. The ones that can drive, come over around 10:00 hours. The ones without a way are picked up and brought to the farm.
Everyone gets a ham or Turkey dinner compleat with cajun dressing, cranberry sauce and all kinds of cakes and pies.
Around 14:00 hours Santa Claus comes. Every child gets a toy and some articles of clothes determine by their parents needs. The toys are given first and the parents get the box of clothes, jackets, shoes or what ever the child needs.
No it is not written off on our tax returns. It is an investiment in our neighborhood. Gods words says "Give and it shall be given unto you."
I changed it around a lirrle "It was given unto me and i want to share it with you, my friends."

Yes i am gaining my strength back thanks to my sweet cajun cook. She's spoiling me rotten.
I am able to pull my self up on my bar and Nurse Janis swings me around to my wheelchair.
I miss my sunrise and sunsets with all this foul weather. I use the eastern porch a lot. My cats are half grown and are alea3ys playfighting. Little man's "Daughter" want's to stay close to me like her dad.
Even at night she sleeps on one side and little man on the other side.
Had to give up my cigars but still enjoy a few cigaretts. Thinking about getting my fathers pipe out if i can remember where it is.
I loved those picturs you posted. We have had no snow yet just 20° cold wet tempetures.
