old marine Loc: America home of the brave

Sunday December 7, 1941 American Navel force's were attacked by the Empire of Japan drawing America into a two front war. One in Europe and the other in the Pacific island's.

Join me in honering those few brave men and women that survived and those that gave their ALL for the freedoms that we enjoy and take for granted.

Oh yeah
If I am correct USS Oklahoma was sunk.
Where the Japs screwed up is they failed to attack the fleets fuel storage facilities on the island.

Since you were/are a Marine, my father went ashore on IWO with the marines as a Navy SeaBee.
He, like many, did not care to talk about the battle on Iwo Jima.

Thanks for your service.
I was a 'ground pounder' Army dude for 3 years

We have a sunk battleship in Hawaii that is a monument and final resting place for thousands if sailors that were lost and are still on board.

The Japanese screwed up when all three of our carrier's were at sea and escaped the attack.

Men that were in battle do not like to talk about it. Because it brings back too many bad memories.

The Navy Sea Bees were building airfields under heavy enemy fire. Without them the war could not have been won.

Any man or woman who puts on an American uniform and goes in harms way should be honored and respected.

I did three 13 month tours in Vietnam. The last one almost got me. Today i would still do the samething. In January i will be 80 years old, God willing.

God bless ALL BRANCHES of the military.

Semper Fi indeed!!!. Rest in peace mates.
I had just turned 7 and will never forget the war years.
In my opinion, residents who do not rejoice in what our people endured in WWII don't belong in this country enjoying the way of life we have thanks to those on the front lines.
NFL anyone?

Yes, the Oklahoma was sunk as well as all the other Pacific based battleships plus other ships.
My dad did 22 years 8 months and 13 days in the Army from 1923 to 1945. My mom's brother was in the Bataan Death March and did 3 years as a POW in a Jap copper mine before getting to come home at 6 foot 2 and weighing a whopping 85 pounds.
Strangely, I enlisted in the Navy wanting to be a SeaBee. Didn't know how to apply so took whatever they saw as a need for my warm body. Ended up as an E-6 Engineman qualified in submarines.
