In light of the messes in North Carolina, Arizona, Montana, Ohio, North Dakota, Georgia, California, New Jersey, Utah, Florida, and Alaska.... do you think we need some changes to how votes are cast, voter identification, and equipment? Do you think that stricter laws on absentee ballots/mail in ballots need to be put in place in light of issues surrounding many states? Do you think that dead people should be purged from systems? Do you think voting should be extended beyond one day? And finally, do you think that only those who are voting should be able to enter and linger around the voting site.

I personally think:

Voter ID is an excellent step forward and I think that absentee voting needs to be reigned in.... perhaps a requirement that the absentee voter provide evidence that they will be out of country (this would include military) or a physician's statement that an individual is housebound (this would include hospitalization or retirement facilities) and can not vote in person. And these two reasons should be the only ones acceptable for absentee voting. Other than that, the voter should present themselves in person along with their identification at the polls.

In light of this, I think that voting should be expanded beyond one day... perhaps a week or even two. This would allow everyone a chance to vote in person... unless certified out of country or housebound.

To prevent voter intimidation, the area in proximity to the voting polls should be for those waiting to cast their vote or exiting the facility after voting and not be a place for demonstrators or those encouraging/discouraging vote(s) for any political party. And it would eliminate exit poll takers and news people from influencing voters.

Busing of voters need a hard look.... neither party should be allowed to harvest votes. Public transportation should be provided free of charge to anyone traveling to the polling office and back to their original embarkation after they have cast their votes. No mass transit sponsored in behalf of a candidate, church groups, and so forth regardless of party.

Plain unsealed boxes should be used to store office supplies and not voter boxes.

Ballots should be exclusively in English which would require that a single national language be adopted for the USA. And all ballots need to be handicap accessible, meaning ballot boxes or machines be equipped with braille.

No votes should be accepted or counted after the polls close. This would eliminate the "found" votes lying about on tables or back-room storage.

A consistency in voting machines across the nation that has a paper trail.

This is only a first blush... I am sure I missed some key recommendations, so feel free to banter this around.

The machines do have capabilities for all disabilities! Voter I’d should be the law of the land as well as English only with no interpreters allowed! No mail out ballots and no provisional!! Outside auditor counters!!!

The only safe way to hold fair elections is by "Fingerprint" identification. 99% of American's fingerprints are on file NOW.

They can not be forged, used twice, or have dead people voting.

There will be no fraud in returns or accuracy.

Excellent. You have my vote. I would make Election Day a Federal Holiday and not expand voting days. But that’s just me.

Excellent... I had not thought about making it a holiday. Some companies already make the time spent voting a paid leave status.... so, if the person takes time off for voting, they still get paid (providing they voted and did not use the time to go fishing). But, I like your idea.

Thanks. I notice many Democrats are now accusing Republicans of power grabs before a New Democrat governor is sworn in. Seems to be mostly about common sense changes to their states voting laws.

Yes, that would work in place of an ID style card.... so, how could the mail in votes be vetted? With a paper ID, a copy could be provided with the vote... But, yes indeed for in person voting in person the fingerprint would work. I can think of many hurdles this would easily jump.... until Liberals give felons the right to vote, you could tie this into the courts system, military, Social Security and Vital Statistics for death.... indeed, even the post office for transitive people..... this is worth brainstorming!

Democrats... they are always complaining about something. There is another thread opened by Morgan on how the GOP is limiting the Democrats.... worth the "look see."

A voter would only need a fingerprint to vote, in elecrions.even county elections.

Your fingerprint is like a barcode in a grocery store, just scan the fingerprint and you have the persons vote. Nowdays they don't even have to use ink to get your fingerprint, nice and clean.

Pennylynn wrote:

That's no problem the person would have to go to the county clerk and register then the clerk could remove the block and the person could again vote. No bug obstacles there.

Fingerprints are already in thd FBI system along with every person in most all workplaces, the military, state workers heck just about everyone over 18 years of age is un the system. Even felons. Even a lot of illegal immigrants are on file.

If a felon, illegal aliens or someone voting in two different precincts, the vote would be kicked out and possiable warrant issued for their arrest issued.

You wouldn't have to worry about dead people voting any more.if one showed up to vote i say let him vote .

Just some food for thought.
