Did anyone watch the Funeral Service.... when President Trump was seated?

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump arriving and being ushered to seats next to Barack and Michelle Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. The first to greet the other presidents was Melania …. President Trump extends a handshake to the obama and President Carter was too far away for a handshake. And all seemed cordial with the exception of the Killary who bobbed her head several times. This, on any other occasion, would have drawn a chuckle from me.... but, one would think on this day to celebrate the life of a former president that she could have at least tried to find room in her Grinch heart to put away the bitterness.... Perhaps she was too far away to shake hands... but the look on her face, would she have shaken hands if she had been seated right next to President Trump and our First Lady? Watch and pay attention to her face...

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trum... (show quote)

Hillary did not appear to have a friend in the entire place. Just people going through the motions with her.

Penny, I did notice what you mention here, but what most caught my ears was former Wyoming Senator Alan Simpson's dropping a few humorous one-liners during his eulogy for a good friend including: "He (Bush 41) was a man of such great humility. Those who traveled the high road of humility in Washington D.C. are not bothered by heavy traffic."

I have to add...it was very moving to hear Bush 43's eulogy, especially towards the end where he spoke of his final conversation with 'Dad'. It was reminiscent of a similar conversation I had with my Dad just before he passed in April of 1991.

Your observation is contradicted by the video.... even Jimmy Carter was all smiles and waving.
Obama assumed his plastic smile, the same one he used throughout his terms in office... Michelle, one can not tell if she was smiling or not.... but, overall I think the people in this row were chivalrous and extended courtesy... with the exception of Killary.

Would it surprise you to learn that many of the clips you see of Obama are actually not real? His speeches, many were reworked... the results are impressive.... but fake. Read this and watch the clips to see how it was pulled off..... and if this was done for Obama, then some of the clips you see of President Trump are also manufactured. Something to think about. https://www.pcmag.com/news/354940/ai-lip-syncing-could-make-fake-news-look-real

So, do you wish to change the topic of this thread and focus on what you want to talk about?
Specifically the eulogy? If so... then why not, it is far nicer than calling attention to Killary's actions..

Nothing like the chill you post on the internet. You never miss an opportunity to take dump on decency, no matter what it is, even the passing of a great man.

Sorry, Penny. But, the thread is about the funeral service, and I specifically noted that I saw the same as you did with our former presidents and first ladies. My added personal observations were not intended to draw your ire. I will now leave your thread for you to manage as you can.

Perhaps a saucer of milk will calm you down

So.... let us just focus on the eulogy. I liked the opening lines, and were so in keeping with the number 41 "At age 85, a favorite pastime of George H. W. Bush was firing up his boat, the Fidelity, and opening up the three-300 horsepower engines to fly – joyfully fly – across the Atlantic, with Secret Service boats straining to keep up.

At 90, George H. W. Bush parachuted out of an aircraft and landed on the grounds of St. Ann’s by the Sea in Kennebunkport, Maine – the church where his mom was married and where he’d worshiped often. Mother liked to say he chose the location just in case the chute didn’t open.

In his 90’s, he took great delight when his closest pal, James A. Baker, smuggled a bottle of Grey Goose vodka into his hospital room. Apparently, it paired well with the steak Baker had delivered from Morton’s."

I always say, when you need to hijack a thread then make it memorable..

So, what other than your previous observation on the thread about when President Trump was seated touched you the most? Or perhaps a thread dealing with the eulogy might be more respectful to the memory of 41.

Good god, we just laid to rest a great American hero and you're hung up on Hillary. Give it a break--Trump was yelling to lock her up just last week. She should have flipped him the finger when he walked in...

I didn't see Jimmy Carter wave but I did see him look at his watch. And why are you so surprised that Hillary treated Trump with the same respect that he treats her? Melania shook Bills hand and Hillary nodded at her but Trump didn't extend his hand to any of them. Why aren't you jumping on his case?

I watched the entire service on Youtube. Many times my eyes sweated. I was especially moved by the eulogies by the presidential historian, Meacham, and by GW. The Bush girls readings from Isaiah and Revelation were perfect choices. Twas an outstanding farewell to a great American.

As a veteran skydiver and instructor, i can truly understand why George HW Bush loved skydiving. His first jump out there in the Pacific had to have stuck with him. Robin Meade goes skydiving with GHW on his 85th birthday

It was moving. I watched 41's son a couple of times. He did very well in holding back his grief almost all the way through.

Thank you for the links!!! Excellent.

May 41 be at peace and reunited with Robin and Barbara.

Nor did Trump, he looked like an out of sorts bear. Hillary had every reason to be chill, Trump having tried to get the AG to "lock Hillary up".

He may as well have stayed "home"

What I noticed was a few minutes prior the Obamas and Clintons laughing and joking and the chill when Trump came in...
...then you can see the difference when Bush came in, politely shook hands with the Grumps, slipped Michele another piece of candy, and went down the line shaking Carter's hand.

Ya know, Penny, sounds strange to say this, but it's been a while since I've had such an uplifting experience. Through two years of relentless roaring hatred for president Trump, there came a brief moment of reprieve. So much love expressed though humor and sorrow, and especially with such heartfelt gratitude and profound faith in God and Lord Jesus. The service for GHW Bush gave me renewed hope, it was an affirmation that there are still good men and women in the heart of our nation's capital. I have no doubt that president Trump is one of them.

And, I learned things about George Bush, Sr that truly added much to my respect for him. For many reasons, I always like him, but it was exhilarating to learn so many personal things about him, especially his extraordinary faith in God. Knowing that pleases me. I thank God for that. Vaya con Dios, Mr president.
