Your assumption that I'm a "Liberal" without knowing me, shows us all that you've got a fair amount of the previously alluded to substance between your ears....

That kind of thinking is why Obama won twice against the best your "team" had to offer (it wasn't so much that what Obama had to offer was so great, it's merely that intelligent people, understanding that America had only two choices, chose the lesser revolting option).

My deepest apologies. If you are not a Liberal, yet you voted for President Obama 'twice ', exactly what are you? Are you happy with the performance of the man you put into the White House?

As for me I brag all of the time that I voted against Obama. When history is written about this time period I will have been on the losing side politically, but I can hang my head high. I sure hope you can.

I'm all about those seven principles and this guy is speaking a clear truth. But what a shame that for so many years institutions such as the black caucus, the NAACP and others, have produced absolutely no positive results in the causes they represent. Truly the people who call themselves black are their own worst enemy.

Wonder if the blacks would get all bent outta shape if we called them the NEGRO word since they delight in called the Whites RACIST.....???

I think many of you would be surprised at just how conservatives blacks in predominately black countries are.

In Africa and the Caribbean Islands, predominately black populations hold european and NOrth Americans (including black North americans) to be "evil and wicked" as one old black person on St. Kitts told me.

In the Islands, wee I had the privilege to lives for a few years, kids were well behaved and the entire island was considered his extended family. If you saw a kid doing something wrong, you could turn them as white as me by saying )I know your parents and I'm going to tell them what you did." Parents would encourage you to discipline their child if you saw them doing something wrong.

Violence was a rarity, except on Island like Jamaica. I never saw an act of violence on the Islands, other than Jamaica, until I return years later and the crack epidemic, brought back to the Islands by young toughs returning from the US, was beginning to show it's effects.

Modesty in male female dress is considered a matter of respect. No shorts for men and no body-tght clothing for women.

European women would play topless volleyball on the beach, an act that enraged older Islanders. (it attracted a number of observers among you men, white and black.) And homosexually was deeply frowned upon, although not a subject of homophobia in the dutch boy paradigm.

The Rastafarians, the true believers, and not the "Rastaphonians"who grew dreadlocks, drank alcohol, used cocaine and generally violated the precepts of the Rastafarian religion, where among the most conservative. Women had their God-given role as did men.And stepping out of those roles was consider a sin. Sure, they smoke copious amounts of marijuana, but didn't partake of alcohol, caffeine or nicotine or meat other than certain types of fish (no shell fish).

I met an member of Earth Wind and Fie, an old R&B group (marinally R&B, that is) down in Antigua back n the mid-1980s. He has dreadlocks and was dark skinned, but he said as soon as he opened his mouth, he was treated as would any other North American be treated.

Politically, most Islanders, white or black, wanted to be left alone. they wanted something for their districts from the elected governments, but only as much as was given other districts. Most social welfare was distributed through the churches, of which there were many.

My second sunday on St. Kitts was greeted by a knock on my door and an invite to church. 'I noticed you didn't come to church last Sunday. You're welcome at mine." All stores were closed on Sunday, except those catering to the hedonistic tourists.

I've never spent as much time in sub-Sahara Africa, but I got much the same vim, except violence seems to be much more pervasive. but the same bedrock conservatism seemed to be present.

It's human nature to be conservative. Radicalism, left or right, only grows out of hopelessness and desperation for basic needs such as food and shelter, or out of living fear of losing what ability they have to provide food and shelter for their families. This last is one reason the loss of stability in the US Middle Class has given rise to right wing radicalism.

Liberalism is only popular where people have gained enough of the basics of food, shelter and other material wealth, and to have that wealth come easily without many hours work daily to make ends meet.

Unless one has some amount of free time, they don't normally go looking to improve the lot of others who may or may not want that help. Or unless one has come up from poverty and has gained enough wealth to be able to focus on the needs of the less fortunate. Or unless one has an innate sense of social justice, this last resulting more in Woody Guthrie style left-wing politics.

Those who mistake conservative for right wing and liberalism with left wing do so at their own peril-peril of making themselves look like fools.

Outstanding post. It reflects my experience in the Bahamas, where I was employed for about six months. Some of the friendliest, most courteous, likeable folks I've met, for the most part. I had the same experience with Nigerians. Not Africans in general, Nigerians.

Thanks for the integrity! I was thrilled to hear Ryan standing in that position cause usually he's out there shoving amnesty for wetbacks down our throat.

Everybody is racist when they hit the nail on the head but not democrats and liberals because they have other cards to play. See I can make statements with no logic just as well as the next guy! Woo hoo!

Like the idiots when they say that liberals are the tolerant ones, "as long as you agree with them"

His comments were not racist, simply poorly conceived. Somewhat of a stretch to take them as racist. But one has to wonder how he wandered into the direct path of bigotry.
