2. Of Means and Ends [Forget moral or ethical considerations]

"The end is what you want, the means is how you get it. Whenever we think about social change, the question of means and ends arises. The man of action views the issue of means and ends in pragmatic and strategic terms. He has no other problem; he thinks only of his actual resources and the possibilities of various choices of action. He asks of ends only whether they are achievable and worth the cost; of means, only whether they will work. ... The real arena is corrupt and bloody." p.24

"The means-and-ends moralists, constantly obsessed with the ethics of the means used by the Have-Nots against the Haves, should search themselves as to their real political position. In fact, they are passive — but real — allies of the Haves…. The most unethical of all means is the non-use of any means... The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be...." pp.25-26

"The third rule of ethics of means and ends is that in war the end justifies almost any means...." p.29

"The seventh rule... is that generally success or failure is a mighty determinant of ethics...." p.34

"The tenth rule... is you do what you can with what you have and clothe it with moral garments.... It involves sifting the multiple factors which combine in creating the circumstances at any given time... Who, and how many will support the action?... If weapons are needed, then are appropriate d weapons available? Availability of means determines whether you will be underground or above ground; whether you will move quickly or slowly..." p.36

the chapter entitled "of means and ends" in Rules for Radicals is too long to post here, but you can easily find it.

This is the methodology of most radicals or near radicals. It fits the dems very well at present.

Every conservative should read, or better study, Saul Alinsky's "Of Means and Ends. As you say, it explains the reason the leftist progressives think, and most importantly, act the way they do. In their wretchedly warped minds, actually achieving a given goal is far more important that how it is achieved, ethics and truth be damned! Destroying things like honest voting in elections is just the beginning easy stuff. Socialists/communists like their leaders appointed by the Party, so that there is only the Party Platform in their politics.

Once a given (socialist) group decides that their goal is correct in their own minds, then anything and everything, up to and including murder, is acceptable to achieve that goal. Riots, arson, assaults, even killings are considered acceptable means of achieving the goal of destroying any non-communist government. The trick is to get the ignorant and greedy stupid people to do the dirty work of rioting, arson, assault, deception and other lawlessness.

Most conservatives are hamstrung by their desire to themselves be ethical and honest, and to make politics ethical and without any deception. Sadly, if conservatives adopt the mindset and tactics of the whacko left, they destroy the honesty and good that makes them conservatives.

Honesty at the polls should be easy to insure, but the left is working very hard to keep vote fraud in elections. That is the sole reason to prevent laws that would outlaw vote fraud and provide penalties severe enough to deter such fraud. Concern over that minute, elusive and anecdotal few little old minority ladies in some remote place that can't get a photo ID, is simply leftist BS.
