Yes, the only way to dismantle the fabrication factory is boycott, starve it. It is a cancer, we need to identify every source of its sustenance.

What "free press" are you talking about? There is a vast difference between a free press and an ideological propaganda machine. If you don't believe the MSM is politically and ideologically biased, then why are they not giving equal time to our side?
Why is 99% of their so-called reporting extremely negative of Trump and his supporters?
Why are the assholes with microphones and cameras calling Trump Hitler and us Nazis?
Why does CNN's racist scumbag Don Lemon say divisive and hateful things like, "we have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them. There is no travel ban on them. There is no ban — you know, they had the Muslim ban. There is no white-guy ban. So what do we do about that?"
Does anyone see the hypocritical failure of logic in that statement?
What "free press" are you talking about?... (

The key term here is "responsible" vs "irresponsible" reporting. The media has a lot of access not enjoyed by most people, and since it's their occupation, the time to utilize that access to acquire the information they need to report news to the public.
There is a degree of trust involved, readers and viewers depend on the media to keep them informed, and in so doing make their own decisions as to how they vote, etc.
When media acts as the propaganda arm of a political party as CNN and the alphabet networks, the NYT, WaPo and others do, they are betraying that trust via disinformation and omission.
In effect, they are abusing their First Amendment rights via irresponsible reporting to the extent that there is little difference between their "news" and editorials, yet they purport to be delivering fair and balanced information.
It's pitiful when they become indignant at being called on their penchant for wilfully delivering fake news when that's exactly what they are doing, and it's also totally their fault that their credibility with most Americans has declined to a level not very distinguishable from that of the Onion.
They are doing nothing but harm to the reputation of journalism as a whole.
Luckily, there are some responsible news venues left
such as FOX, the Washington Times and the Daily Caller.

FOX also has more viewers/followers now than CNN or MSNBC because people have grown wise to the fact that CNN and MSNBC report "news" that doesn't reflect the reality that under the Trump Administration things are improving 100% yet constantly "report" negatives, ignoring positives.
The Democrats think the American public is stupid and won't eventually notice that they really ARE getting fake news from the "progressive" networks.
I like to think that the leftie posters here are smarter than to really believe half of the CNN propaganda, but the way they defend it into death, I don't know....

Obviously, the prrrrogggs here only watch the DemoRAT'S Joseph Goebbel's designed propaganda machine and Obama's Black Shirts. All are entirely engulfed in NAZI propaganda. Remember, the NAZI PARTY is a Socialist's Workers Party. Just as DemoRATS are today.

AGREED. ALL news agencies should be licensed as such and held to fact standards.

If "[t]he Democrats think the American public is stupid" why are they the party that tries to get more people to vote? It is the Republicans that try to suppress the vote?

So who do you want issuing these licenses, the government?

Yes in part. Maybe a panel of their peers adhering to actual journalistic standards.

I think it's obvious, "Who Decides What A 'Fact' Is". People do. And different people have different criteria. I think most rely on various authorities and the criteria recommended by various authorities. I know I rely on the teachings of my two primary authorities: my Mama, and my Daddy. My Mama taught me to trust in people's good intentions. My Daddy taught me to question everything. Quite a quandary.

Well, a good beginning to reporting facts would be when quoting people. No editing key words from a sentence or misstating or deleting context.
