Hello everyone,
I'm a new user. I have a rare degenerative genetic illness that I was born with. I'm worried about healthcare. I definitely hope the new healthcare bill gets squashed. Please help people like me with chronic illnesses & other's. Vote NO. Please help those who are impacted by these terrible storms.
Nice to meet u all.

Welcome. I pay for this stinking Obamacare so please help me. My premium is more than my house payment was. I'm also in Florida and didn't ask for anyone else's help to clean up. Thankfully not much damage. If you were born with this disorder how did you survive before the ACA?

Hello Gracie. Welcome. Hope you can get through all of the good, not so good and horrible advice and opinions you will get on here. It can be fun and informative if you get past the lies and outright deceit.

Sorry about your rare degenerative genetic illness. I had a friend who was quite a intelligent man. His illness effected the extremities of his body, arms and legs. The last time I saw him, he was still trying to run, with braces, and in his fifties. Worked hard, when he could find work and was enjoying life. I hope you can do what you can within your limitations to enjoy life as much as possible and keep you mind sharp.

As for this Republican bill. First, ACA was a horrible piece of crap. How it affected you and how you were able to work with or around it is your business. From all I can gather I won't like this new bill either. It is unfortunate that Congress can't/won't put together a true bipartisan bill that excludes extremist on both sides, minimizes government controls and interferences and cuts cost while making it available for everyone and no special sections for Congress.

Ain't going to happen. Meanwhile, grab hold and hang on for a hell of a ride. Cheers.

Hello gracie, welcome to opp. Sorry to hear about your illness and am also sorry to hear you want this new bill to be quashed. I'm not saying its perfect, actually it's far from perfect. It's a start in the right direction to get the federal government out of the healthcare business. The states will handle it much better. Millions of people are suffering under the huge cost of obamacare, and personally the horror and disgrace of the VA system that our soldiers are forced to live with is the exact system we will all live with if we don't pass this bill.

When replying to someone specific, hit Quote Reply under their message. Then position your cursor under their comments and type away. After you hit send, your message will show up with a reference to their message to help keep things sraight. And yet, it sometinmes gets confusing.

You can also send a private messages to one single user if you really want to do so, but this is mostly a public forum.

Vote no on what? The repeal of Obamacare? Obamacare itself? We don't get to vote on the new healthcare bill. Congress does. Are you asking us to contact our representatives to give our opinion? Obamacare was passed without my vote and certainly without my approval. Please, Gracie, don't be under the delusion that Obamacare is out there to give you healthcare. It doesn't. Men and woman in the healthcare industry give you healthcare, not government bureaucrats. Government doesn't tax you to give you services, it gives you services to tax you and have power over you. The free market in healthcare is what has made your debilitating disease tolerable. Government's intrusion into healthcare is what is going to make everyone's misery equal.

People have accused me of lacking empathy over my opinion of Obamacare. Nothing could be farther from the truth. My empathy just happens to extend to everyone. I don't think it is my place to steal your money and give is to my daughter (who, by the way, also suffers not one but two debilitating illnesses) nor do I think it your place to do the same to me.

Anyone who thinks socialized medicine is a good idea need only look to the socialists states of the world to see the result of their ideas. Do some research. Find out the survive-ability of persons in your predicament in, say, Venezuela or Cuba. You most likely would not have survived childhood, or perhaps even birth.

Welcome, today may be your lucky day. Senators McCain and Collins put country before party joining spoiler nut job Rand Paul promising to vote against the latest republican assault on American families. If Obama care is ever replaced it will likely be by single payer. More than 20 million Americans are breathing a sigh of relief knowing that for now republicans will not steal their coverage.

Yeh I'm treated for it. I have to a Dr for every system in my body. It's hard. It is a invisible illness which makes it more difficult for ppl to understand. It is call EDS. There are many types that overlap w others. It affects my heart and I have dislocations. Along w CVS. Not the pharmacy. Cycling Vomiting syndrome. It is awful. Affects my joints ,bones, spine, veins, bp, etc..all connective tissue. Just to get started. They say wheelchair & help in home. I say I'll crawl 1st. I do know 1 day it will happen. It is autoimmune so it will wear me dwn. My body is that of a 70 yr old and I'm only 47. Can't change it. Just try to spread Elhers Danlos Syndrome awareness . thanks for asking.
Take Care.

Congress will not exclude the extremists because the extremists run congress.

It is obvious that the ACA is in a death spiral. If the democrats truly cared about people they would be working with the republicans to salvage every bit they can for these people they say they care about, but it is more important to the dems to use healthcare to discredit Trump et al than to provide for people like the young lady who began this thread.

I am very sympathetic to any who fear losing life sustaining coverage and I.doubt that will happen, but people need to face the reality that this coverage is not sustainable

No country on earth with socialized or national health care is anywhere near the population of America and like it or not, the cost rises exponentially. Double the population coverage costs much more than double the cost and America is as much as 5--10x the population of some of these countries being used as models. There are no realistic models, no comparisons. It is an apple/orange scenario at best. And some countries with national healthcare do it through private coverages, not governmental. Such as Germany with some 130+ insurance companies.

To that add the fact that now the left has admitted there is no possible way to fund a one payer system such as proposed by Bernie.

I would suggest to this above referred lady that she write Trump. He has intervened before and the effort will only cost a stamp and envelope.

These accusations of people dying due to.the proposed changes are unfounded.

Does anyone really believe career politicians would so willingly stick their necks in a noose then voluntarily jump off a building?

If 20M are feeling relief it's because they have listened to idiots like you who have no idea what you are talking about and spread your ignorance like butter.

I wonder how many people become worse off healthwise and perhaps die from listening to and believing fools like you who preach doom and destruction but have no clue at all. People with.heart/blood pressure problems. Emotional stability problems etc.

Shut your ignorant mouth and crawl back into your safe place.

Anyone who believes anything you say is being lied to because you have been proven repeatedly to be a liar.

Gracie, ignore this idiot! He doesn't care if you live or die as long as he can use you to bash Trump.

The entire medical community is against the current bill. Not a single medical care organization support it and yet the republicans in the senate were ready to ram it through. The bill did nothing but loot money from health care so it can be pissed away on tax cuts for the wealthy.
