Welcome, Cherokee, to OPP. Enjoy your stay.
Nice to have you. My great grandmother was Cherokee.

Are you really Cherokee? What percentage? At least you're not one of those other tribes, like the Comanchee. Bad news there. If they were more organized they would have been more successful.
Welcome, hope you are a good addition to OPP, with lots of wisdom, facts, stories, and humor to share. We have way too many people on this site who aren't very wise or with common sense. Don't know if you just like the name Cherokee, or if you are a true native american. If you are, looking forward to hearing about your views as long as they aren't anti USA. We already know humans are flawed sinful people and we all have a past, whether as a nation or individuals. Know some of my ancestors were Cherokee on my grandmother's side. Hope you have some tales to tell... like about giants, skin walkers, Cherokee history and survival lore, as long, if you believe they are true.
Hope I've met a new brother/friend. Just a little about me for your info... born and raised in MS, broke, trained and showed quarter horses, 4-H and professionally. Cleaned a lot of horse manure, dug a zillion post holes, built three large barns with hand tools only, my dad believed in keeping me busy so I wouldn't turn out like him. It kind of worked. Needed a vacation so joined the Air Force in 74... cop, civil engineering, admin, retired. Then Tx Dept of Criminal Justice as a correction officer, retired in 2010, married twice to the same woman and divorced twice, no kids. A follower of Jesus and not organized religion. Okay your turn if you want one.
Hello,
Not a brother but a sister/friend. Born in CA but was a Navy Brat so I ended up in SC. I live in the foothills of the Appalachians and enjoy a newly graduated journalist/editor. I have two daughters, two granddaughters, and one husband, married three times, two to the same man, divorced once. Follower of Christ and believes in the need for religion...someone to be His hands and feet. I am looking for a job, ejobs as well as a physical job...either one. Interning right now, but that does not pay the bills. I like to edit because typos drive me nuts!
My bad... hi my sister/friend. Wonderful that you are also a follower of Christ! I agree, God wants to work through us but has to step in from time to time and put things back on His time table. Hum... unless you want to be a miner, not sure if I can give you any job hints for that part of the country. I did have a friend in Arkansas that made good money buying quilts from women in the Ozarks and selling them in NY. Maybe that could be a money source. Pretty sure there must be some in your new area that still make quilts. I will certainly drive you nuts then, because I make plenty of typos...:) I'll say a little prayer for your future job. Write back anytime Cherokee woman (remember that song)? JW
Actually Cherokee and Powhatan. I like that people make typos because it will keep me in a job, I hope. Thanks for your prayers. I actually make quilts and for what work goes into them, I cannot get my money back. No one wants to pay for your work, just the materials, and then at a discount. I have no wish to be a miner, but I do love rocks. I should have been a geologist. I could have done something I love more than talking. Nah I love talking more, hence the reason I am a journalist/editor. Things are always on God's timetable, even if you do not believe in Him, He has His own time and it is relative to what we need. I have noticed many that call out and ask for His help, then when it happens too slow for them, they turn away. His time is a test as well as a blessing. Yes, I do remember that song. Memories of a bygone era. WOW! KL
Well it's midnight here, so you must be a night owl too. Now that's got to be one of those God things... you make quilts... did you try and sell them in the specialty shops or on-line? I know a few years ago I checked out some in a store and they were so light and cheap even though they looked pretty. The ones I grew up under were heavy and had a lot of cotton batten to them. Use to crack the windows when I was young and then jump under those quilts in the winter time. Sorry but I've never heard of the Powhatan tribe and I've read a lot of books on the different tribes. My ex's dad grew up in Uvalde, Tx and he was a dead ringer for Geronimo in the face and that area was Apache territory. I just discovered a new christian site a few months back that I really enjoy and have learned a lot from... it's called NowYouSeeTV on You Tube and they have a married indian couple on from time to time. Can't remember the name of the tribe they are from. The show is a lot like Coast to Coast but from a Christian perspective and they cover everything. Giants, occult, free mason, portals, shape shifting. I think the co-host is from SC. Check it out when you have time and also check out this man on YouTube, Gary Wayne, awesome knowledge of history and the Bible and you just have to listen, never heard anyone who has this much knowledge on his subjects. Oh my, it's late, chow, ta ta, bye, ttyl. JW
The Powhatan tribe is the tribe Pocohauntus was from. She is my ancestor on my father's side. I have only been to Texas once, lost nothing there. I know Cherokee is spread all over. We still have Cherokee and Blackfoot Tribes here in the South. Powhatan was more of a group of tribes united under one chief. Check it out sometime. They were from Virginia and that is where my family is from and still, some are there. I also have family that passed through Texas and decided to live there. Ever heard of Kilgore, TX? My gr. gr. uncle on my father's side, I think. May be three greats, not sure. Would have to look and I do not feel like it. Anyways, it was family and my father's side of the family, and my mother's too, thought God meant them when he said to populate the earth. We have big families and I LOVE it. Funerals are a real family gathering, but we have no reunions other than the funerals. I have not seen the YouTube channels but I def will. I am always interested in walking closer with God. I have no bedtime so 4 a.m. is no big deal, but I am awake all hours. I have fibromyalgia and cannot sleep much, except when I pass out from narcolepsy. LOL fun times. I fear some of the things that can be done like skin-walking. Some people do not believe, but I know crazy things and they happen. I will check this guy out, but I have to confess, someone that knows scripture does not impress me as much as somebody that knows Christ. I will keep an open mind. I like new perspectives on my thoughts of my walk with Christ and you never know where you will find inspiration. God uses everything to His good. OK Peewee, have a good night. May you and yours be blessed.
