lindajoy Loc: right here with you....

A special day of love, friendship and sharing our heart.~~~
The holiday's roots are in the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia, a fertility celebration commemorated annually on February 15. Pope Gelasius I recast this pagan festival as a Christian feast day circa 496, declaring February 14 to be St. Valentine's Day....
My Valentine Friend

Valentines Day reminds me
how meaningful my feelings are for you.
You have a special place in my world
that no one else could fill.
Out of your overflowing heart,
you add color and light to my life.
You continually cross my mind,
like a precious dose of sunshine,
lighting me up inside--
as I think of you
and the lasting memories
we have created together.
No Valentine gift
is as precious to me
as you are,
my Valentine friend.

By Joanna Fuchs

Happy Valentines Day to so many that bring such warmth, love and caring..
Truly amazing every one of you are...

When we love, we live life to its fullest...

Lindajoy, I grew up on the beach where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. My mother would load three of us and our surfboards into her station wagon on Friday afternoon and drop us off at the steel pier in south Va. Beach. She would come back on Sunday to pick us up. We could eat all weekend on $5.00. Didn't realize we were eating JUNK FOOD! Circa 1963. (13) Oh my gosh, those were the days, young enough to be innocent and young enough to truly enjoy life. I'm sure you and most here can relate in your own ways. In 1959, my sister and I would walk 7 miles each way to school. Me, 8th grade, my sister 2 grade. 8th and 9th grade the distance was 12 miles. Mom was a school teacher who had to leave early but NEVER before fixing oatmeal every weekday morning for her brood. To this day, though we've all somewhat abused ourselves, none of us get sick. Thank you Mom and oatmeal. I feel very sorry for the kids today. Where we were sent out to play until the street lights came on, they sit in front of a babysitter screen of some sort, no fresh air, very little exercise and parents too busy and hectic to interact. ( Thank GOD my daughter and son in law don't fall into that category. We are an out in the woods, shooting, hunting, fishing family. In fact my Granddaughter owns 4 weapons herself and is very efficient with them.) Sorry about the screed. Your beach scene just brought something up. Thank you and Happy Valentine to you. I always enjoy you. Mike

Mike, born in MA our weekend family outtings were either lakes or to Cap Cod for weekend cabin trips... If you wanted closer then it was to Revere Beach.
Or Boston Harbor Islands..
I loved Ipswich...Cap Anne area..
Wasn't born yet in 63 but my childhood years were much the same as yours..

My Father was AirForce, two tours in France... I was 4 first time then 7 going back second time..The beaches we went to there Étretat, Normandy. ...Sainte-Marine, Brittany. ...and my favorite,Trégastel, Brittany...I'm a water baby although my sign is fire~ go figure..lololol
Did a lot of surfing in Cocoa Beach where I once lived..Dad stationed at Patricks AirForce Base..Half the guys there would let me surf eith them..My uncle would drive me to school and we'd always surf right at Coca Beach Pier..just a couple blocks from my home.. I don't think I ever went to school with dry hair the whole year he took me...lolol.. Also took half the day to dry because it was long.. Anyway, if not in the water I was running around the Blue Hill Mountains getting bushels of blueberries.. I love the mountains and fresh blueberry jams, homemade muffins, breads OMG I'm getting hungry... My grandmother made the best blueberry ~strawberry jams you could want!!yeast rolls to die for..

My grandmother a nurse and ballerina for the Boston Theatre at the time.. My uncle sat second seat in the Boston Symphony, trumpet player.... My grandfather worked at Alison Charmers as an Electrical Engineer... Then to NASA where he retired from.
My dad career Air Force, mom home with the kids...

We were never home until sunsetting..and in the winter we'd jump out my brothers widows on the second floor into the snow.. I was the one always caught tho.. of course my mother would have a fit my two older brothers would let me..lolol..She didn't know I'd just do it after them... because they really wouldn't let me.hehehe..

Sidetracked.. great memories.. kids now a days miss being kids and building such memories..

Thanks for a stroll down memory lane full of such love...

Something to remember... A very special friend recently told me our angels (that I collect and believe in ) are always with us... He is right....

I've had too many miracles not to know they know before we do...
