Here's a good chance to try a little-known performer and instrument...'The Rooster Blues,' by Justin Johnson. This guy is great...look up more of his stuff I met him at a cigar-box guitar concert down near Luchenbach, Texas just about a year and a half ago...FANTASTIC

I'm telling you, SOL, this guy is awesome in concert. He can make a single string cigar-box guitar (a 'Diddley') sound like an entire string section. If you choose to follow up on him, you will be amazed at his virtuosity. My neighbor constructed an actual cigar-box that he currently tours with. It is avocado green and shaped sort'a like a pear. He is constantly traveling around the country promoting the cigar-box guitar with other artists.
Catch him if you can, as his concerts are usually very reasonable in price. I paid a $5 entry into the one near Luchenbach.

And, yes, the guitars (most) are made from tossed cigar boxes out of smoke shops.

It was my bad not to have brought him up on the forum after I first went to his concert. He can be found all over the internet. He is really a nice and decent guy whose goal in life is to introduce, on a grand scale, his love of the cigar-box guitar. Since you play, I can ask my neighbor if he could put one together for you, as he does it for a hobby. He is a fellow 'Nam Vet, and lives just down the road from me off Lake Whitney. As I said, Justin travels with a couple my friend Ken constructed.
