"fat shaming"

The following is a depiction of a conversion had between two people who share their opposite opinions about this new thing called "fat shaming", picked this up off Facebook.

"what is fat shaming? shaming someone that is fat? well we shame those that smoke, and being over weight can pose health risks as well, so why are people shaming those who point it out and encourage the person to eat right?"

"well that's because some people are big boned, or are just wide."

"well that is completely fine and all, so why are people getting upset?"

"because it hurts our feelings."

"well you know if you are big boned or not, so why are you so offended?"

"because people think we are fat!"

"who cares what other people think? you are you, you know if you are big boned or not so you could simply tell them if you are, if they don't believe you, them to hell with em' don't let what they think crawl under your skin if you are big boned, because that is just the way you are born. the only reason you should ever be offended is when you are in denial that you are fat, and aren't ready for change, or don't want it, or you are discouraged because you have tried to loose weight but are having trouble."

what do you think? are there flaws with the argument based upon the belief that fat shaming is a delusion? if so, please tell me. so far I agree with that argument.

Losing weight is like quitting smoking; if you want to, you will, if you don't you won't. Been there, done that.

I think delusion might be the wrong word. I would say that is an observation ,and it depends on who is making the statement. If a person see themselves as big boned, that is the way it is. It goes back to a old saying. As you see yourself ,so will it be. If i were to give an opinion of someone, i always ask what do you think of yourself. I never give an insulting opinion.

I have fat people try to lecture me on things all the time. Its pretty funny. The wind gets taken out of their sails when you remind them, you gotta take care of your house before you tell me how to run mine.

I quit smoking in 1987 and have been getting fatter ever since I'm not sure what the connection is, but I had a pacemaker put in on Friday so maybe it will help pace my eating too I know I haven't felt much like eating the past two days

I quit in 2000; I had no weight issues until I broke my back in 2006. It has been a challenge since then, as it is difficult for me to exercise enough to really do any good. Diet can only take you so far. I'm a bit larger than average, so I can carry a little more before it really starts showing.
