Wouldn't It be great if we had a bunch of hungry people with families and you needed you lawn mowed, your swimming pool cleaned, or your shoes shined. You could get a lot of competition to do the work and you could negotiate for a very good wage. Is that the America we want? That is the America Trump has in store for us.

So the 80's heyday isn't gunna happen again? Sit back and watch. CUT TAXES. REMOVE THE NOOSE. Trump is going to do that.

Imagine lots of people with money who want to hire you. Remember the help wanted ads in the 80's? Do I need to go on?
I quit taking more new jobs in July this year. I am still trying to catch up on work I have already booked.. All I need is blue sky and the government has no control over that. In the 80s I could not get enough work in my trade so I worked as a boatman on an Oyster Farm--did some commercial fishing-- worked for the Forest service till the spotted owl took my job. I put an ad in the paper and started building and remodeling without a license. I got nabbed building a duplex so my next customer helped me get a license.. A few years later I broke into the storage lot of a Drunken Roofing contractor who was about to have every thing seized for non payment of storage. Me and a couple buddys emptied it out on a day it rained 3". Within a year I had three trucks 2 asphalt kettles and my phone ringing off the hook. All I had to do was do what I said I was going to do. I now expect the same from our leaders. If I get lied to I'm gonna vote against them.

I can see that. I've worked hard also, and I've been blessed beyond my worth.

But the fact remains that the economy is being hampered by high taxes and high regulations. Nobody I've heard of (possible exception Sicilianthong) wants no taxes and no regulations. But there is a point for both where they destroy more than they create.

Would a 20,000% increase in meat inspectors save at least a few lives? Sure. Are there better ways to spend money? Of course. My point is that the government should be there only to do those things in the constitution, and then only when it's something that people cannot do for themselves.

The Pilgrims tried to have a Socialists Paradise in America, and failed miserably. Fortunately they saw the error of their ways and introduced the free market to America.

I hope you are right and all the evidence and common sense to the contrary are wrong. Stay bent over with your ankles grabbed, you are in for a rough four-year ride.

The biggest drag on the US economy is the outrageous taxes paid by everyone. The US is, by far, the most heavily-taxed economy in the world. Don't think so? Read this:

http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/a-list-of-97-taxes-americans-pay-every-year

Now, this list is not complete. There are many more. Add in the cost of literally hundreds of thousands of stifling regulations and nonsensical statutes and is it any wonder that the businesses are all headed to foreign lands? There are literally trillions of US dollars sitting overseas because the owners refuse to hand over 70% of it to the Federal government in order to repatriate it. Does anyone blame them? I know I don't.

You make some useful comments from time to time, but you really get confused with your absolutist, black/white arguments. We aren't choosing between big government and small government we are balancing the size of our government to the demands of our people. We don't have individualism or government, we have what is best accomplished by our joint efforts and that which is best accomplished by individual effort. We need enough regulation and not too much regulation. We need taxes to pay for what we want and no more. Very few important issues lend themselves to black/white thinking.

Bend over and find out what Trump is going to do to you and to the rest of us. Hell, you may even like it. The beautiful thing is that Trump will control our military, the Supreme Court, the White house, the Senate and the house of Representatives. What happens in the next four years is on him, entirely and we will see if you like what happens. I see the Trumpsters are already fantasizing about Trump's screw ups will be Obama and Hillary's fault and not Trump's.

I've made no black/white arguments.

Limited government doesn't mean no government.

The constitution's articles define the government's power, and the Bill of Rights (which take precedence in any conflict) limit's those powers, giving all of the remaining power to the states and to the people. Some of the following amendments muddy the water, but the bulk of American's rights still legally exist.

Taxation should be implored to fund that which people cannot do for themselves. Every $0.01 in taxation is a loss of someone's liberty. It should never happen except when necessary for the health of the Republic.
