Black Americans and the 'Democrat plantation'

It appears conservatives are angry and baffled by the tendency of black Americans to vote for Democratic candidates in overwhelming numbers. To explain this state of affairs they have come up with any number of reasons, including but not limited to:

blacks are low information voters
Democrats give blacks free stuff (e.g. the fantasized Obama phone)
blacks just aren't smart enough to know that Democrats are racists and have them on the plantation.

Conservatives usually argue that race is the issue, when in reality conservatives have no real clue about the motivation that black Americans have for voting for Democrats. Republicans and conservatives do not get that their infatuation with 'states rights' is at the heart of the matter. Minority groups rely on the federal gov't to enforce their rights as Americans, having had plenty of experience with states that pass laws that oppress and discriminate. States even now tend to resist enforcing the rights of minority groups, whether based on race, sex, or sexual preference.

Since conservatives and Republicans have given up the idea that the federal gov't has a role to play, those minorities naturally turn to the party that still thinks the federal gov't has a role to play in enforcing their rights as Americans. Has nothing to do with race. If conservatives would use their control of state gov'ts to enforce instead of undermining the rights of minorities perhaps they might have a chance at breaking the Democratic party's hold on those voters.

I don't see that happening any time soon because they don't recognize the problem. They blame the victims instead of doing a little self analysis. Remember the autopsy performed by the RNC after the Romney defeat? About the need to be more inclusive? A fat lot of good that did, as conservatives seem to be doubling down on their bet that the white male patriarchy will survive the 'browning' of the country.

This could go on, but you get the gist....

And the most entertaining of all. We need to change our messaging. NOT we need to change our attitude(s), we need to change our message.
Well, all I need to see is one lone message from MarKinny with NOBODY disputing her pronouncements to convince me that it is conservatives who want African Americans on a plantation doing what little they think blacks are capable of doing.

I know, right? Racist right wingers are never upbraided by conservatives. But ALL Democrats and liberals are racists. And they expect to be taken seriously?

And if we begin supplying our youth with an adequate education just maybe that will work to everyone's benefit.

I look forward to the day when these folks STHU so that we can reasonably "upbraid" each other, gently.

I can hardly wait. I am so sick of racism. Who knew that electing a black man would bring the cockroaches out of the woodwork? And they've got the nerve to call liberals racists. Right. I still don't quite get the logic.

Also there is this thing about lies. They seem to stick around well past their expiration date. No matter how often you refute them they are like zombies that never die.

You have to feel sorry for those who continuously spew the lies.
Think of what sad lives they must live in order to find it necessary to go against everything they say they believe in order to disrespect others.
You have to admit despite what they think God is not really likely to consider them saved if they are not following the loving example provided by Jesus of Nazareth.

I had higher expectations, and yet was not surprised. This situation has always been just under the surface, erupting into periodic feeding frenzies like the shark in Jaws. I could list them but I won't. Disgusting and painful.
There have been tiny baby steps forward, and three giant steps back during this entire administration.

Add the right wing religious pandering... If a situation isn't bad enough, add religion, the second cousin of 'fix it till it's broke'. State's rights... to justify owning slaves, keep women under control, just like it says in the bible.

I like that "fix it till it's broke".
This thread that Working Class Stiff got us started on has me thinking that part of the problem is that we don't battle with enough ferocity against the misconception that it is blacks who are gripped by poverty and in need of the assistance that is falsely labeled as free.
The latest freebie is the antidote for an overdose and in many cases detox and treatment. The communities around here that are having the greatest eruptions of abuse are not predominantly minority neighborhoods.
I think that means that white abusers are getting that assistance.
And that neglects the point that I am just damned happy that me and mine don't need benefits.

Yes. The combination of the rise of the Internet just about the time Obama was elected gives these racist morons the ability to projectile vomit their vicious racism to the world at large. It's hard to ignore them when they're spewing this drivel right in your face. This forum is an excellent example. I think a lot of it has to do with who can come up with the most vile language. It's all so juvenile. I keep wondering what is next? How do republicans top the vile discourse and find yet new victims of their hatred? I mean, at some point, aren't they going to run out of victims? Hopefully they will start eating their own.

You have hit the truth in one area, they can't top the ugliness that is why it is so repetitive and boring.
Look at who they want to elect, the Emperor of Invective.
The man is endorsed by every loser in the nation and he can't turn them off no matter how hard he tries.

This guy is such an embarrassment. He thinks he's going to be buddies with Kim Un Dun and Putin. Probably Netanyahu too. Great company he plans to keep. Right up his authoritarian alley. People who plan to vote for him are babies. They want someone to tell them what to do and what to think. Feeds his narcissistic personality disorder. The guy is looney tunes and the people who like him are dribbling morons. He is a psychopath and not a benign one.
