Hi folks: I am what you might say, a bit old now. Mid 70s
And have been active in the political seen for many years.
And what I am looking at today in politics is nothing short of unbelievable. So from time to time I will be writing about the state of this country, its leaders, and I hope a few topics you may or may not find of interest to you. Be that as it may, I am very glad to be with you and will be posting soon :)
This newbie is older than you, so thanks for your youthful views. I too will be commenting on attitudes and customs I've watched change, for the better or worse, in a search for enlightenment and maybe chagrin.
Gun control laws vary from state to state. Most ought to be universal. It is the gun culture that needs changing. How ridiculous that carrying a gun should be seen as bravery or "manhood"

Hi Jack.
I dont know how much older you are then me, and to tell you the truth, I dont think it makes a hell of a lot of difference one way or the other. To me, its good enough that you have joined us all. Thank you.
I have long held the belief, the older segment of our population, should in fact, impart a little of the wisdom they have gained over the years, to the younger folks. Of course what they do with these pearls of wisdom is entirely another story. Thats why I am so happy with the Internet. It does give us all a voice, and a unique opportunity, to express some thoughts and conclusions we may have come to. Hopefully, others will find interesting. So to that end I am here. And as I have said, will be commenting on different aspects of our population and government. Thanks again, hope to talk to you soon.

I read a number of your posts on one thread today and saw you trying very hard to impart some of your acquired knowledge on the younger people but with little success.
I am in my 80th year and do think I have some things to help THEM out with but don't seem to get it done since I just won't do it in a way they will accept. Oh well, they will someday learn about socialism and what it really is.

Thank you for your input. I would tend to agree with you, except for this one small observation. I have raised 6 children, Have 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. In my family,( and I can only speak for me ) I have tried very hard to impart to them all a sense of moral responsibility, and pride in there community. For the most part, it has worked. Times are different now then when my family was young. And I have long sense given up on trying to convince the young people, what they see and hear all around them, may not be true. And what they should do is just stop, and weigh all aspects of any given situation. But with the advent of instant communication, which I am convinced is a major factor in this incessant need to have every thing now, I like you, feel like I am rowing up stream in rapids. Instead, I would hope that perhaps I can reach some of the middle group, and with any luck, give them some help along the way. For they are far closer to the younger ones than I. So to that end, I will keep trying. Again thank you. And I am sure that even I my learn from you. That is the way of us all, is it not?

Another good post from you. I don't have all those younger people to deal with like you do since I have only two sons and neither of them has a wife and because of the way they were brought up surely no children.
