Yes they do! However, we create them ourselves in Addictions. So many times when people feel helpless against dysfunctional or abusive forces around them, they also don't know how to cope or deal with it so they find and escape, and become addicted.
Also, recreation drinking and drugs can become very addicting to some youths as they play and experiment with them.

When asking an addicted person 'why' they do it: you will hear that demon began to speak, cry, and whine as to what is behind it they are helpless to, the problemed reason they do it, or just angrily tell you that they like it. Push them to much on the issue, and they will likely yell loudly in your face, or even try to fight you.

Addictions come in many forms, but all in all the person demeans themselves before the face of God, every day.

Consciousness is a great mystery to scientists but recent research, including that is Quantum Mechanics, is leading to strange and wondrous speculations...and dangerous ones. Psychic energy, like magnetism and gravity, is a real force. "Getting someone's vibe" is a real possibility. Such force has measurable influence on instruments and others. This is not sci-fi or new agey. Energy cannot be destroyed. Whether this means that souls after they die can affect others has not been answered but shockingly is being honestly asked by prominent scientist in a number of fields.

Back in college in '89 (I was retread), I met a woman who had 13 years of sobriety who had a distinctly different message than I had heard up until that time with my 5 years. She now has well over forty years and has personally helped hundreds and hundreds and probably tens of thousands on the speaking tour. We became good friends and eventually roommates for three years (just roommates). One night she told me about an experience she had had in early sobriety, still naively thinking she could save the world. An alcoholic had called her from a bar all sobby and claiming she wanted to get sober: could she come and pick her up. My friend went.

Some background about my friend. She was not religious and had a real attitude, she said, toward so-called "religious people"; her parents and Christian boarding school being the primary and hurtful bad examples. She was also street smart (except in her tenderness to help other alcoholics, where she was for a time, as she described, a total sap). And she also had a New England natural skepticism. Enter the saloon.

From the moment she walked in the door she felt assaulted by "the energy." In looking for the women in distress that had called, she witnessed other entities hovering around a half dozen people in the crowded bar. Then one seemed to be sucked into a person. This was way behind anything she had ever seen or could possibly imagine. And the last thing that registered before she fled was that these entities seemed, in her brief observation, to be aware of her and shifting away from her presence.

On a much smaller scale, about five years later, there was a repeat performance. She was watching a news story about a Catholic archbishop in NM that was meant to be upbeat and for a fleeting glimpse thought she saw the shadow of a hovering entity. She called me about it, now being back in her home state. We both laughed at her "losing it." A month later that archbishop was asked to resign for "improprieties."

"Do demons exist?" I trust my friend's experience. If she says she saw them, knowing her, I am compelled to agree. The closest I have come is in just sensing the presence of evil or in seeing something in the eyes of a person that warns me of trouble.

I am at a loss for words, I wish to experience something such as this, I want to because I want to see it, I want to feel it, I want to perceive it. I am very interested in this now. I have experienced the feeling I cannot describe, let alone accurately remember, but, one day 1 year ago, something happened to me that has scarred me, I had dreams of my friend, who was dead, I could see him, I could talk to him. I wish I could go on about this but It makes me question reality, it makes me stop thinking. I barley remember what it was about or what we talked about, but I always have a faint recollection of it.

I agree with your comment rumi. At the young age of 19, I was married and told by my husband that I was to travel from one state to another and spend Christmas with his family, while he stayed home for work. He had arranged for me to make the trip with his brother and his wife going the same way. Just a few days before my trip, we were on our way to the store when my lower back started literally camping, I felt ice cold all over my body, and my eyesight turned a shade of dark. I thought I would crawl right out of my own skin. I pleaded with my husband that I did not want to go, that something bad was going to happen. He believed me and tried to get ahold of his brother, but couldn't, who showed up on schedule anyway. I went with them as originally planned, and once at the in-laws, information was given to me that literally changed my life as I knew it, and put me in a 15 yr struggle against being consumed by that darkness I had experience at first. I consider the fact that "I was warned or at least let know ahead of time."

By the way, I wanted to ask Larry who he is to define on others what is "Alone, and content" verses loneliness.

God speaks of demons repeatedly in the Holy Bible as actual spiritual beings, not imaginary, allegorical, or metaphorical, but real.

For example Jesus spoke to the demons in the maniac with a Legion:

God's Word says the demons replied:

Time and again we see Christ address demons, because they are individual spiritual personalities. They exist today just as in Bible days. Their reality and activity is plain to all except those blinded by Satan.

What Are Demons and Evil Spirits?
They are invisible spiritual beings created without bodies.

People raised in the materialistic west struggle over this. It is easy to comprehend when you understand that you are a spirit living in a body. (You are a tripartite creature, made in the image of God. 1 Th. 5:23, Gen. 1:26)

The real you, your spirit (eternal, Heavenly being), existed before your body was formed and will exist after your body dies and decays into dust. At death your spirit leaves your body and returns to God. Your soul leaves your body and after Judgment, spends eternity in Heaven (if you are “born again”, i.e., saved) or in Hell (if you are not born again). (Heb. 9:27a)

Your body needs both spirit and soul to be ‘alive’. Your spirit is connected to God, similar to a chord being plugged into a wall. Your spirit gets its power from God and functions in the unseen world of Heaven, but needs a vehicle to function on earth, i.e., express yourself, speak, move, and sense your environment through your body. That is why the Bible describes the body as a house, or tent, in which we humans live briefly on earth. (2 Cor 5:1; 2 Pet 1:13)

Your soul (“breath” – not air – that enables your body to stay alive) is what enables you to intuit, feel, perceive, discern, sense, and have insight.

You have two inner beings inside you, that are a type of twins (same but different), one connected to God (spirit), the other connected to creation (soul). Both are needed to correctly function on the earth. If your spirit departs, your body loses its connection to God. If your soul departs, your body loses its connection to the created. Your body contains and t***sports both spirit and soul in your earthly life.

Out of body experiences relate to the spirit. A coma more relates to the soul.

Where Do Demons Come From?
God created the Heavens and everything in them including the host of spiritual creatures called Angels, six winged Seraphs, (Is. 6:2) Cherubs, and the three Archangels.

One of the Cherubs, Lucifer, became proud in heart, wanting to be “as” God in Heaven. His sinful desires brought down God's judgment upon Lucifer and the angels in his charge. One third of the host of angels in Heaven were under the command of Lucifer, so God's judged them as though Lucifer was the head and his angels were his ‘body’. God cast Lucifer and his angels down to earth, renaming Lucifer (Morning Star) to Satan (Adversary)and renaming his angels (daemons, demons, evil spirits). (See. Is. 14:12-15, Lk.10:18, Jude 6, Rev. 12:3-9, Ez. 28:15-17)

What Are Demons Like?
They have the same rebellious evil nature as Satan their leader. They h**e God and His creation and seek to destroy it. They are wicked, vile, and utterly sinful.

People, particularly Christians, are a prized target for demons because mankind was made in God's image and originally had d******n of the Earth. Christians serve God and therefore are favored by God. Evil spirits endeavor to lead men and women into much greater sin. They most often do this by putting evil thoughts and lies into a person’s mind. The person often thinks they are thinking these thoughts, never realizing that those thoughts are being “downloaded” into them. Demons take every opportunity to gain occupancy inside a human body to perform various acts of evil. Since they are spirits, they too need a human body to use as a vehicle to function on earth.

Since God does not give them bodies, they must gain a body the best way they can. They generally deceive a sinning human into giving them occupancy inside their body.

A demon influencing a person is called demonic oppression. Once a person is controlled by demons they are described as 'demon possessed'.

What Do Demons Do?
Fallen man's sinful nature is wide open to demonic influence. Demons incite sin, r*******n, hatred and prejudice among people. They tempt mankind to sin by contradicting their own consciences, and disobeying God's Law. Demons encourage hatred, murder, theft, p***e, greed, covetousness, drunkenness, r*******n, sexual immorality (fornication, adultery), sexual perversion: homosexuality, bestiality, sodomy, and every other sin found in the world.

Satan and his demons are the source of disease and sickness, both mental and physical.

Only very serious Christians can defeat Satan and his demons. Only serious Christians have God’s Spirit living inside their bodies. It is this Spirit that defeats Satan and his demons.

There is these verses however that do state (in the spiritual understanding) that demons come into us, as we open the door for them.
Demons are energy, just like all else this world is based upon. The energy of light, as well as the cold energy of darkness.
As God states in the Beginning, there was darkness. There is darkness first- before there is light (common sense). There will always be that contrast. Jesus says he is the light of life, and the light of the world. Spiritual light to our soul, and sunlight for the world. Without either, there is only the original darkness upon men (carnal life), and upon the world. The light of both is energy. One owned only by God, the other worldly. I do hope you are following me on a spiritual level.

Demons: 43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. Matthew 12:43-45.

This has two understandings: Anyone who walks through life not knowing their savior, picks up bad habits, even addictions, feelings of anger, frustration, hatred, that if not resolved generate an engery of themselves. At times that negative energy can become the driving force of that person. When that person comes into the life of their Savior Jesus Christ, the Spirit of Conviction (a good conscious) allows that person to find within themselves their part in the original problem. That becomes pardoned and a new understanding of how to avoid those problems takes place. Now the devil can only tempt without the person, rather than living within them.
Should this newly saved soul 'not' continue in the footsteps and teachings of Jesus Christ, then soon the world will engulf itself around that person once more and they become worse off then what they first were. They take in that evil energy again in anger, frustration, and hatred.

The scripture story is prophecy however, of when the Jews lived within their captivity in Babylon, due to their evil hearts.
Through the Persian King, God had them freed from their captivity to go back and 'rebuild' their temple in Jerusalem.
That is the same temple, and evil mindset of the Jewish Priests, that manipulated Jesus death by crucifixion. They murdered their own Spiritual God in the flesh of Jesus Christ.

The devil, and his evil influences have been around since the beginning of time, That age old Devil.
When a demon is cast out of a person, what do you suppose happens to that energy?? It waits until it finds an open door into the void of a person, who than influences those to take in the same.
