We have three choices, everyone fall in line (that ain't gonna happen), split into sections by choice (possible), or get out the guns.

How many of us might have to move to a new state if we don't agree with which side of the split our state goes to? I just can't see this as a very sensible way to settle our differences.

Also, I have to argue with one thing Williams said. I have never considered Madison to be the father of the Constitution since really about all he did was keep notes of the meetings. I have read his book that he wrote in every night after the day of fighting and find that he took little part in the actual day to day fighting on the floor. Since Washington presided over the daily meetings I would prefer to give him that distinction.

I have seen many writers other than Williams that gave Madison particular note for his role - particularly as regards to separation of powers between the federal and state governments. Regardless of who gets the credit, the idea was clearly stated - the fed limited in scope of authority, the states not so much

You are very right, but I am not sure how much fighting and kicking it will take to get us back where the founders wanted us to be. That old carrot and stick method that has been used by the Congress to gain control of many of these things has just led to too much change by the states.

Until the States decide to stop taking Fed money, nothing will change. People are all for State rights - until it comes time to pay the bills or cut programs. A big mouth does nothing but vibrate one's fillings.

Until the people in the states realize that they aren't taking federal money - federal money starts in the states, goes to DC and comes back after the DC crowd have taken a huge bite out of it - and what's interesting is you also don't seem to realize that simple reality.

Has nothing to do with Armed i**********n but on three occasions in the last 25 years I've had to use it, have never had to discharge it.

Once a kid was trying to hot wire the truck, once when we were coming home to an open front door and once when someone was in the garage.

Am quite sure your gun less and I'll be keeping mine thanks.

If you want a conspiracy to destroy America, follow that link everyone down the path to making America an obsolete, third world collection of impotent feudal states.

Of course you read the last words of that piece but failed to see what they said. Here they are for you to try again.

My personal preference is a restoration of the constitutional values of limited government that made us a great nation.

Did those words call for secession or anything as bad as that? Nope, all I see is returning to a place we left over 100 years ago and have been getting farther and farther from all the time.

The title, "Parting Company": what does that suggest to you? Like marriage, the author says we may need to separate. Then this: "A superior alternative is to find a way to peaceably separate into states whose citizens respect liberty and the Constitution."

Sorry, I see that piece as nothing short of s******n.

You sound pretty simple minded. The Fed money indeed comes from the people. When States accept that money they accept the Feds control. The States may be getting some of their own money back but the strings attached to it are not worth it. Let Fed money be spent on things only the Fed can do and the States deal with their own issues on their own terms WITHOUT Fed control.
