As long as you are winding down to simplicity, I wanted to put a couple of sense into the issue.
Good Friends are not only found in the human world, but also in the animal world. We have a small set of these animals that are here to teach us how to act.
The Dog, is a good representative of children. They have an urge for fun, and not too willing to follow rules unless they think it will please you and then you will give them more attention. We can learn a lot on how to handle children by learning to handle dogs.
The cat, This animal has the personality of men. they are usually untrainable, they do their own thing despite animosity, they are independent thinkers and get into all kinds of mischief because they think more of their physical ability than they are capable of. They do not take orders, but will respond to love and reward. They have no deep lingering value for anything except that of their own choosing. They like to torture both you and their play things.
The Horse. More like a beautiful woman, Strong, durable, loyal, willing to take unreasonable burdens for security, Loves to be free from domination, but loves to dominate. Has hidden powers not easily determined. Maintains as mystery about feelings but will be loyal to a fault if properly cared for.
These three animals are here in my opinion to teach us how to relate to each other. We are lucky to have them so available.
Now, take a look at this, and give me your alternate opinion. I would like to see how you feel about these three domestics.

Hey There!!
So, which would you be? An inquiring mind wants to know!! :-D I like your descriptions. Alas, I would be a mutant for sure. I don't follow rules, not very trainable, love to be free of domination. So much for enlightenment, but don't tell slatten!!
A more concise description is that I run responsibly with scissors (if that is possible) and I have not the ability to color inside the lines. My husband has such a cross to bear, he does!! I used to manage a mental health outpatient clinic (not for profit), and for a very, very brief duration of time I thought I could bend the rules. Found out rather quickly, in that time and place, that structure, as much as I h**ed it, was a necessary evil. Of course, it didn't stop clients in the grocery store at the checkout in their attempts at making me play their therapists while waiting in line!! I had to change grocery stores. HOWEVER, that is probably the ONLY time that I have really paid attention to rules, and only because lives sometimes literally depended on it, including mine. The day that someone attempted to strangle a therapist during group was mind altering.
I'm glad that I now live on a farm in the middle of the woods where there really aren't rules. I don't own a watch, although there are those times I will consult my cell phone to see if I'm already late to be somewhere.
I've mentioned before that I learned to swear in goat, gave it up because I didn't really like offending those bucks. The only time I really get upset with any of the llamas, actually the ONLY llama, is Phoebe, because she is the only one who has threatened to spit at me out of the 20 llamas. However, she hasn't laid her ears back of late, giving me the evil eye because I won't give her her way. The last time she did that, I spit at her -- a preemptive strike, it was!! She was SO shocked!! Those ears perked back up, but she stood with her back to me for a very long minute or two. We teach others how to treat us and she learned she couldn't push me, never mind that she weighs approximately 350 and is one of the "tall" girls, being able to look down at me. I'm not sure what I've taught the "herd" of rescue cats. They are indeed grateful for having been rescued from a variety of circumstances, but there are days when I have a difficult time getting in the door without at least 10 trying to escort me inside. That's when I call my husband on my cell phone and ask if he will come to the front door. They see him, and they walk away. Yeah, they know I'm a softy. I think they also know that he wishes I had never rescued the first one!! There are those among them though that will walk with him wherever he goes outside and I can't tell you how thrilled he is when one of them trips him!!
Well, I see the time, drat that clock!! I have some baking to do this evening since one of the "less diligent" Amish didn't do her part. I would rather take a long nap, but duty calls.
