I have taken to reading country of Origin on my food products, including major brands and am unhappy with the amount of Chinese imported food and without prominent labeling as to country of origin. ONE thing to import trinkets and clothes from China but food..this is over the top and crossing the line for the greedy profiteering corporate bums. We spend a whole lot of money on the FDA so our food will be safe and now we are almost forced to eat Chinese food that was packed under completely unknown conditions of sanitation or origin! I am writing my lawmakers in disgust! If you agree with me do the same!!

My daughter has heard of dogs dying from treats made in China as well. We don't have any control as to what or what not that they put into their products or foods that they ship here. Until we reject and keep rejecting their products they will never change as they keep thinking that we are just foolish Americans and we don't know anything.

Commish- I read labels, too. The last I heard, they use raw "night soil" as fertilizer in China. Just the thought of their mushrooms makes me gag.

My brothers dog almost died from imported doggie treats, he spent about 800 bucks at the vet including IV therapy and the dog would have surely died. A class action suit needs to be brought to the importer!

But, the greedy profiteering corporate bums may not be Americans. Just like your Toyota, the makers are not Americans... I try to not buy anything made in China, but it's hard. Do you know there are 3 billion cell phones made a year and not one is made in America, or TV's, cameras. I tried to buy a bench grinder made in America, I looked for a month never found one. I bought one in Sears, but it was made in China. We need to pray that China never fails, on that day Walmart will be empty of 95% of it's stuff. We need to wake up.

I no longer buy anything from Smithfield Foods since China company bought them. Used to love their pork products, but now it's Farmland products and the local butcher...if you can even find a butcher anymore.

Again.......................you guys want to blame everything on the corporations without holding yourselves accountable.

We have so many rules and regulation on labour and testing on toys that the price of toys went through the roof. So, a few years ago Americans started buying Chinese toys, remember that???
We bought Chinese toys because China doesn't require unions or union wages, workman's comp, health insurance and doesn’t have to meet child safety laws, so without those expenses their toys are cheaper.
The end result were toys that had paint on them that was dangerous to children.

The wholesale flood of rules and regulations, created by the government, puts the price of American products out of the reach of Americans. This is a function of government, and stupid American citizens.

When it comes to food safety, what do you know about GAP and a hundred other useless programs that drives up the cost of food production, with no increase in safety. It's just bureaucratic crap.

Well, I do blame the corporations, AND the prostituted congress who care not about the country but their own pockets and of course v**es...I would like to throw them all out! I know we might get a few good ones..but their sacrifice would be worth it to get rid of the Harry Reids and others that care nothing about the country. I used to write them using the words honorable..but that is not usually the case any more. I so not agree with the bureaucratic rules that mean nothing and drive the price up..but safety in food is paramount and this game should not be played in that area. Just like the AFA, the pharmaceutical companies and the insurance companies wrote that law..not congress! Prostituted themselves to the lobbiests again!!

This also might be one of the reasons the Chinese are buying up so much property here in the USA.

No, congress writes the laws, the president signs them and the courts uphold them.

Special interest groups hire lobbyists, to basically, bribe our representatives, to write the laws they want.

The Constitution provided checks and balances some of which have been removed. (See the 17th amendment)

Our forefathers warned us from their graves, do not make the positions of representation, positions of wealth, or the country will suffer.

What does the average citizen earn and what is the average salary and benefits of our representatives worth?

even Mexico uses sewer water for irrigation so don't eat anything you don't cook or peel from there, I spent three and a half years in the southern Baja and several of the cruisers got sick from eating salad in resturants
