Would our EPA do a thing like this?

This article says that the EPA has joined the government fight against gun ownership by contributing their order to stop using lead in bullets because it pollutes the air. I don't think the cheap bullets I have are polluting the air outside my house, but then I don't agree with a lot of "green" things like "green" bullets that will be more copper and much more costly once the lead is all gone.

And what gun owner did not see this coming? I have enough to reload for 10 years! Knowing that this is not the first thing, or the last, the government will do.....who in their right mind is not stocking up on all the things that will soon be "unlawful" in the near future?

I would say that most of us knew this would happen but I am not sure that very many know about the EPA and lead in bullets from weeks back when they forced the last factory producing that horrible stuff to close down. Regulate the hell out of them is what it seems is happening.

Lead is one of the few elements which can be found in nature in pure form.

Lead occurs naturally in the sulfide mineral galena (PbS) and occurs with vanadium in vanadinite. Lead forms a sulfide with antimony and iron called Jamesonite and sulfides with antimony called zinkenite, plagionite, semseyite and boulangerite. Dufrenoysite and gratonite are sulfides of lead with arsenic. A sulfide formed with antimony and arsenic is called jordanite. A sulfide formed with tin, iron and antimony is called cylindrite. Bournonite is a sulfide with copper, lead and antimony. A sulfide formed with tin and antimony is called franckeite. Lead is found in the mineral nagyagite, a sulfide, along with gold, iron, antimony, and tellurium. Silver joins with lead and antimony in the sulfide andorite, AgPbSb3S6. Lead, copper and iron join in the sulfide betekhtinite. In the sulfide mineral hutchinsonite,(Tl, Pb)2As5S9 , lead joins with arsenic and thallium.

Lead is used in hospitals, kennels, batteries, coating in the space lab...... if it is hazardous, then we need to stop using it in other applications. Right? And then perhaps we should dig up the naturally occurring stuff?

It was never more than a matter of time before the EPA pulled off this one. It is a part of the gun control that Obama's people just haven't been able to do much about.

I buy my ammo since I have no reloading equipment and will certainly stock up a bit more now that they have made it so hard to come by with the regulation. Notice I said regulation, not law, since only Congress can pass laws and they weren't involved in this.

A few years back, I started stockpiling. You are right about the regulated vice law. But, when I was in the military we went with the rule of thumb; regulations are guidelines.

I had to fill out a log for every mission I did at radio direction finding when in the Army. At one point my Sergeant, trying to keep me from trouble, told me that the people at our European headquarters were about to go after that enlisted man who kept using swear words on his log. Of course, it was me and I didn't know that women were seeing those things. That was in 1956 and 1957 but there were WACS I guess. That was a regulation, it seemed.

I already have a manual titled "Shooting Cast Bullets" BY Lyman. It seems that you use heavier bullets and less powder, making up for the loss in velocity by using a heavier bullet, We will need a sizer and lubricater, and can make Alox, We might be able to make swagers in the lathe, and use sheet copper for the jacket! Most of us have lots of lead! Primers can be reloaded, tools are very simple to make, and several priming compounds can be made at home, as can smokeless powder! But using batteries for storage of solar power.....I intend to buy my batteries dry, and add the electrolite as needed, they will store indefinately dry. They tell us to use "Green Power" then put tariffs on solar panels and ban lead batteries? More proof that "green power" is only a s**m to shut down America!

They regulate the air pollution coming out of the lead refineries and if there is to much sulfur in the exhaust they fine the company or make it do changes to bring the sulfur emissions under control. That way they make it to expensive to refine lead from ore in this country. If the EPA were left unchecked they would try and shut down the world.
