This came up at a family reunion years ago and I'm still catching heat over it. I think I must have been the one who brought it up.
I just recieved this picture from my aunt in california.

Test drive it on your family and see what happens.
We get set in our ways about little things, that evidently matter a lot!! LOL!!!!

since most of the places I have lived the holder is to the left of the throne I have always used "A" so I can use my wrist to hold the roll as I tear off the required amount

I use "B" to keep the animals from pulling all the paper out. The dogs and cats are less likely to as well.

When our new feline joined us, she was very prone to lap sitting in the laps of those who were sitting. She would reach other and unroll the toilet paper. As she is feeling more secure n our abode, we are allowed to take care of business without her sharing.

A sitting sitter? I can guess that would complicate the sitting purposes and the filing of appropriate paper work. For me, pulling paper for 5 minutes to find the end of the roll was too long. By the time I found it I had forgotten why. Caused many strange looks in Walmart, that did.

As she would settle in for an ear rub, it extended the sitting time as well.

As long as the cat wasn't accidently rubbed on, well, you know, then cool!

 Indeed it does complicate things!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experience with "sitting sitters"!!
