There is a lot of input, on this forum, about what is wrong with our country. That is to be expected of a political forum. There are some who are seeking solutions, some an outlet for frustration and other things. I think it important to know what is RIGHT about our country as well. I am grateful that I was born in the USA, where I can v**e and have a small say in what goes on.

When cooperation should be our goal in solving problems, we have devolved to blaming and name calling. Concentrating on differences rather than similarities. Finding gratitude for the freedoms we have and can enjoy, should change the tone of our conversation. Then again, maybe not.

I am very grateful for my country The United States Of America and for all the servicemen that keep it free. I'm very disappointed in our current Government that is trying to destroy our Constitution and our way of life.

We take a lot for granted, simple things like clean water or electric. We live freer than half the worlds population yet we b***h. I thank God each day for the little things in life.

We all have been blessed, those of us born in this country. I am, and have been all of my life, so thankful that my home was here rather than someplace else. And...I'm still thankful that there is a modicum of the right of freedom of speech, and am fearful that is slipping away. Never give UP! That's my motto for this country....and, no matter what happens, I never will.

In focusing on negatives we lose sight of America the Beautiful. Some of us even exaggerate the negatives into end of time and conspiracy ideas. The reality of America is still individualism and a republic form of government that is the hope of future civilization in America's model.

Sez you -- and you are wrong. Obama tried very hard to compromise with Repubs in the start of his presidency, but it was the Repubs who wouldn't give in on their end of the bargain. Mainly this was because Boehner could not control the T-Party extremists in the House. This is all well-documented in the book The New New Deal.

This thread started out very nice. It must be true that crap runs downill. Let's keep being thankful for what we have had and for what we have left. Only God knows where this will end up. I pray it begins to go uphill before we all turn on each other.
