Based on the latest budget deal in Congress and the comments the GOP elites in Congress are making about conservatives and the "Tea Party" what is the difference between the two major parties? It appears they are uniting against a common enemy and that enemy is anyone opposed to more and bigger federal government. Look how anyone with true Constitutional principles gets attack by both sides. Anyone else see a big cloud on the horizon that will soon overshadow the whole country. I am not paranoid but the signs say something is up and it will impact all of us.

I agree totally. Establishment Republicans are very close to as bad on the subject of expanding government as are the Democrats. The only ones who threaten the status quo are the Tea Party folks, and they are a big threat to those who look to benefit from government expansion - those who v**e for a living.

One of the misconceptions some conservatives have is that those dependent on the government's various individual entitlements constitute those who v**e for a living. That wildly misses the mark.

The many folks with fat salary and benefits who work for the federal government also v**e for a living. By continuoulsy expanding the federal government, their power and security expands right along with it - as well as their power to punish their foes - like the IRS on the Tea Party.

Also v****g for a living are the armies of lobbyists - earning big bucks by bying special treatment for the many special interests they represent. Those special interests do include unions, both public and private, but also include many large corporations who have mastered the art of crony capitalism - demonstrated by the raping of the public treasury on green stuff - and that goes beyond the Solyndra's, it icludeds the GE's - and even the millionaire policitcal hack that just won the Virginia governor's e******n.

We can't forget the legions of lawyers and accountants, all provided expanded job security and compensation as they wend their clients through the complicated laws.

What we really have is those on the lowest end of the economic scale having their v**es purchased by those on the top of the economic scale using the taxes collecte by the every shrinking middle class.

Yes, but it just may backfire on both parties. Americans are unique in that they side with the under dog. I am not sure about the younger generation, but the middle aged and older folks do not like bulling or bad talking a person or group that is perceived as trying to do the right thing. And regardless of your party, the Tea Party has been single scoped in that they are looking at America as a nation and not as a race or religion. I think all the posturing by Republicans and Democrats will come back to haunt them.

Yes but look at the big picture, democratic president, democratic Senate will NEVER pass a smaller budget so the House gives them something they can live with. It's all in hopes the republicans will control the House and Senate and with the new rule the Senate just passed 51 v**es is all it takes to block leaving Obama in no man's land. Roman wasn't built in a day!

Even if the GOP takes the Senate Obama will veto any real changes and there will not be enough v**es to override the veto. For fear of a shutdown the GOP will cave just like they just did and always do so we will be right back in the same position. Do not look to 2016 because the GOP elites will make sure another RINO runs and looses.

We have no idea whom will run in 2016 but 2014 first and slow the damage down.

I think if you really check into it, there are card carrying socialist on both parties and they are out to take over this nation. True it has been slow, but since Obama came in, things have sped up quite a bit. If you are not careful, one morning you are going to wake up and find that this is no longer your country.

Floyd you are absolutely correct. Just add money, greed and corruption of statesman like values. Every governmental action can easily be traced to this lobbyist mentality. They are all guilty of being perverted by the money and its become so institutionalized that they see nothing wrong. Where are the politicians willing to point there fingers at those responsible for the corruption. They are just as guilty for not exposing those corrupt established politicians that will do anything for a buck, selling us all down the river for their few pieces of silver. Save Goldman Sachs without debate and argue about funding healthcare. Allow unfettered military incursions while our cities crumble. The American people have to wake up!!!

The politicians, the lobbyists, large corporations, special interests (like unions and trial lawyers) all reinforce each other in a continuous cycle of government expansion that grants them greater power over us - and the only foce I see opposed to it is the Tea Party movement - the much demonized group that represents the greatest threat to that continous cycle of government expansion

2014 could possibly be more important than 2016.

Your very right, republicans need to stop the bleeding or at the very least slow it down. Clinton was just right for the most part and he had republicans feeding him the bills.

I saw no signs that Bill was any way a t*****r in any way shape or form but he also had a republican Congress to contend with. It was like when Regan had Tip to contend with, a simple balance of powers.
