Ah, higher price = better quality? I'm not sure that equation is valid. Some rural hospitals have better stats than city hospitals with higher prices. There are different lists, by different agencies.
Ok when you get cancer you go to East Cupcake General Hospital. I will ask to go to Sloan Kettering.

Why? I don't know anything about Kettering but I hope there's more to it than advertising. My county Hosp. has some of the highest prices and claim "top marks" from the national hospital association. The former is not justified and the latter is false ( I checked ). This hospital has a higher infection rate, higher secondary complication rate and more complaints than most smaller Hospitals. Self promotion is a poor indicator of excellence. I have found no regulations governing criteria for making such claims.
Trust me folks, if you want to avoid bankruptcy, stay out of hospitals, it doesn't matter if it is a "Biggy" or a run of the mill hospital, it will eat you alive if you stay there!
