Now if we could only turn this into a discussion of what may be worthwhile changes, there could be value added on this forum.

Can you promise that there won't be more progressive thinkers at these meetings than other manner of thinkers? I am against anything like this so long as the Congress didn't call for the convention and it is my fear of progressives that makes me like that. Lets see, John McCain, Lindsay Graham and on and on tend to be too progressive for me. How do we know what we will get if this ever happens? How do we know they won't try to rewrite our Constitution? It bothers me that so many people just don't really know about what happened in Philadelphia back in 1787.

Are we finally going to have a discussion about what may be accomplished on December 7th. Great, I am tired and now you may actually get to a real conversation. Go forth and I will join tomorrow if anyone actually brings up something substantive.
Long took his cue from Mark Levin's book The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic. A reading of this will clarify what this meeting on Dec. 7th is all about.

You really cant promise anything but this:
If you don't do something,,,, and soon, you will lose the ability and the right to do so. The govt, in this single year has violated the constitution too many times. What are you waiting for, a drone to drop a missile in your window?

I think oldroy was referring the portion after the ' being "hoe". As many of us are not knowledgable on the topic of Indian names, spelling or slang, the interpretation could be he entered the last three letters not literally meaning slang "ho".

Accuracy is important. It is NOT a Constitutional Convention. The reason I kept asking for information was because, sorry for the arrogant bragging, had it. The meeting is December 7th.

The Mount Vernon Assembly is 5 days away and will mark the beginning of the end to to our runaway Government. So far as of November 22nd, 90 State Legislatures and 30 States have confirmed they will be attending. Marking for the first time in the History of our Country the States, using the Constitution, will decide in a bi-partisan (3 Legislature per state) matter to protect the freedom and liberty of the people against the establishment, the government, and the President of the United States of America. State Legislators from across the Country will soon be gathering in northern Virginia to discuss the possibility of Amending the U.S. Constitution in what is being called the Mount Vernon Assembly. As of November 22nd the Assembly has confirmed 30 States are so far attending with 90 state legislators.

The leader of the Indiana Senate (David Long) has invited lawmakers from every state to join him at Mt. Vernon to discuss a state-led process for crafting Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. This will restore freedom in America and effectively restore the States power over the Federal Government and the President by putting a check on what has been an absolute runaway and corrupt Federal Government empowered by Barack Obama.

Senate President David Long of Indiana sent all 50 States the letters advising them the Assembly on October 26th. Long stated, “The meeting will lay the ground work for a Convention of the States that would, when established by Congress, propose Amendment’s to change various provision of the Constitution”. This is not going to become a “runaway” Convention as critics of this element to Amend the Constitution have so often previously reminded us. Instead, knowing that critics will state this as such, Long has also covered this point in mentioning,”The initial meeting won’t actually consider potential Amendment topics, but rather, will set up the rules to be followed if and when a Constitutional Convention is called.
Accuracy is important. It is NOT a Constitutional ... (show quote)

My first impression is that it sounds like a tea party type of meeting where middle-aged and senior white people rant, name call, and foam at the mouth and "want my country back" which exists mostly in their own imagination.
The 1950's is past. The country is not going to step backward. Get over it.

The question being, how do you feel about the gathering of all states to look at amendments to the Constitution that would bring this tyrannical government back to what the Constitution states, that the people are Sovereign and not the Government and that the Government works FOR THE PEOPLE as their elected Officials to speak for the people, not to sit as kings and queens and make laws that we the Sovereign Citizens had no say so by v****g if we wanted such bill or law, they just v**e it in and push it down our throats with no say in the matter. Thomas Jefferson When the representative body has lost the confidence of their constituents, when they have notoriously made sale of their most valuable rights, when they have assumed to themselves powers which the people never put into their hands, then indeed their continuing in office becomes dangerous to the state, and calls for an exercise of the power of dissolution.
“I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”

So, in other words, it is a reason to spend my money sending my legislators to Virginia, to do nothing. Any proposed amendments, which may ensue at some point, would have to pass the Congress first. States ratify proposed amendments. State legislators can talk to the Federal legislators, from their own State, to accomplish the same thing.
Should the States feel their rights are being violated by the Federal Government, they need only get their representatives to the Congress under control. Our Govenor has the authority to order a special v**e if enough signatures are obtained on a recall petition.

This is long overdue. I hope there is enough sincere consideration for putting this Congress and especially this President on notice that we are a country "of the people and by the people"......

Congress has been out of control for quite some time, for me since the day Holder decided the New Black Panther Party at polling place near downtown Philadelphia could basically just walk.
http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052970203550604574361071968458430

They pulled that one off and have continued stonewalling every step of the way.

Just maybe the Tea Party was right all along. Who want's a one party system with wild swings to the left and then to the right?
