"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me.
"I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
"But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that, if I do this, You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it.

"Therefore I will trust You always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for You are ever with me, and You will never leave me to face my perils alone."
Thomas Merton

Change, if it is truly change, will alway be a mystery and surprise, well beyond my best plans and good intentions and often counter. If not, I am, as William James said (I thought it was his brother, Henry), "...just rearranging my prejudices."

Take a break! I do it all the time. We have come too far. Hope to hear from you soon. The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side but there is nothing wrong with taking a look just so you know.

Excellent Idea. Glad I thought of it. Actually, I have to sign off for an hour or so. Talk later.

The point: change comes only through surrender to God, not by my plan.

Do not understand why I am getting such a ribbing for this post. Did I violate a chit-chat rule?
Adios all y'all.

Who's ribbing? You posted something non-political. Your spelling, grammar and punctuation was correct. VV has no complaint.

I did not rib you. I was not in a philosophical brain space yesterday and took it to be a possible reflection on a change in your work, living, health circumstances. If such was the case, it was my intent to be my usual bossy, busybody self and give you direction. Part of my thought process was based on the title of your forum. What am I to do with my bossy answers now? :? :|

Very keen, actually. My dead friend and I shared the last 20 or so Thanksgivings. Me over there with his family, he over here with mine. Then there was the endearing talks about what we would do for Christmas and our children, mixed with tall tales of what we like to do. I miss the laughter and warmth we had together, the utter ease of being.

Why or why me? You are now on the couch. I am sitting in a chair next to you. Ready...Mr. Rumitoid, it is the first holiday so it will, therefore, bring forth your great feelings of grief which had evened out slightly. As you recover from the Thanksgiving feeling of loss, Christmas will be upon you. You must be aware you will again have these recurring feelings. It is an expected and usual part of the process you are continuing to go through.
There is a wonderful book freely available to you for help and guidance through this time. I actually believe you may own one. GET IT OUT AND READ IT!!!!!

As I do not have a degree in counseling, as someone I could name does have, my bill is only $100.

PS: We have discussed previously no where does it say you may not talk with him.
