Actually, Trump has said balancing the budget is his goal. He wants to do it by greatly increasing the tax base by creating an economy that can provide jobs for everyone that wants one. He can do it that way.

Yes. The government can hire people so it can be said to create jobs. The problem with those jobs that they are jobs that drain the economy. For jobs to be beneficial to the economy, they must keep the money in the free market where innovation takes place. Think of the country as a giant corporation. The government is the management of the corporation. Everyone that government hires is effectively hired into management. The corp. can create innumerable menial positions in an effort to employ everyone but doing that takes the money away from R&D, production and distribution. Do that, and the overall capability of the corp. to prosper starts to dwindle. Do that long enough and the company will go out of business.

The function of management is to support the money making aspects of the company. People like Hillary see it the other way around. They believe the government can always print more money. They think it is money that defines economics. It is not, it is the generation of money, the work behind the money and the innovation it produces.

For an enterprise to succeed, management must be minimal and production maximized.
