While your rant is a bit meandering solarkin, I think you might at least partially be on the right path (is that metaphor even possible????)

Guns are a symptom of the disease of violence in our country.
But then, you'd still want some relief from the symptoms of cancer while a cure is being developed, no?
Common sense gun laws are a a good place to start, I think.
And if anyone is concerned common sense laws might restrict their gun ownership, then my guess is they are the ones we need to keep guns away from.
