The purpose of my contacting you is to request your kind assistance in broadcasting to Senior Citizens in America the continuing deceptions of the AARP. They fraudulently advertise themselves as an advocate for Senior Citizen Rights! What many seniors fail to understand is, this Liberal Democrat run business, openly advocates Obama Care (A*********n Care), as evidenced by public acknowledgement in speech by President Obama himself.
However, their recent actions have managed to slip under the radar of the predominantly liberal media. Their endorsed Medicare Complete by United Health Care (Medicare Advantage Plan) has begun dropping specialists from their plan in Texas.
For example, my senior citizen wife, Miriam, is being treated by Retina Consultants of Houston. One of their principals Dr. David M. Brown is a pioneer in the treatment of macular degenerative eye disease, using injections directly into the eyeball. She is blind in one eye and at risk of losing sight in the other. United Health Care has abruptly dropped Retina Consultants, for which there may not be a so-called in network equivalent. Consider how traumatic you would feel as the patient, or even worst your spouse, having to endure such intrusive treatments, and suddenly lost their doctor? How many strangers would you allow to poke you in the eye? This is a heartless business decision by United Health Care, raising the question of what callousness comes next.
There are couple of actions informed senior citizen can do that hits these perpetrators in their pocket book (1) drop membership in AARP, and (2) drop United Health Care before the December 7, 2013 cutoff date to sign up for Medicare Advantage Plans.
Most important, the real agenda of AARP (end game) needs to be investigated, by both the media and our elected officials. Is this just another orchestrated move toward first forcing seniors on Obama Care, leading to total government control or socialized medicine? Is AARP a pawn in the government strategy? What is AARP’s source of income, and are they a 501c3?
Please join me in spreading this message to American Seniors to avoid further exploitation, and erosion of our constitutional rights. Informed seniors can make their message clear at the b****t box!
God Bless!

The AARP is nothing more than a Liberal Democratic lobby group for Democrats and Democratic party contributions. They are just a bunch of sham artists fleecing Mature (not old really since they would accept an application from a 12 year old who says he is 50 years of age) persons with subliminal and overt messages of questionable motivations.

Can anyone tell me something--I have my car insured with AARP. If I drop my membership--will they drop my insurance? I've wanted to get out, but the ins. is cheaper than most.

I think you had to join before you bought insurance. They may have included it with the overall price.

Do you mean they included the ins. with the price of membership? Or did they include membership with the price of ins.? Because I still have to pay dues, which has rankled me for years, because I don't see how they help the average senior citizen.

My brother-in-law got a quote from the Hartford thru aarp and thought it was too much. He got a quote from an independent agent that was much better, it was the hartford also but not through aarp.

When I went to get insurance they wanted me to join first. I roamed around their siteand they kept sending to Hartford which was fine but zero answers.
Look at the policy and see if you see a $10.00 charge.

I got a pleasant surprise with AAA of like a year and $200 less than any quote.

I wondered about that until about 3 years ago when their CEO was talking up Obamacare and I got mad. I had a credit card through them and my wife just knew it would be taken away. That card has been renewed twice since I stopped paying them and sent them some nasty return mail about why I quit them. I will say that AARP is nothing but an insurance company, at least a pusher.

Problem with AARP, drop your membership...Problem with getting eye treatment for your wife. This must be awful.. 1st step, contact customer service for the Medicare Advantage policy, make them give you statements in writing. Then contact, in writing all of you government representatives, both state and federal. explain and show the problem to all of them. In due course you should get some response from them..They should be able to help a v**er out who is in this type of situation....Letter to the editor wont hurt..Good luck, you have a horrible problem and prayers are with you..

That is on UHC. Not ACA.
Did UHC give ACA as the reason they dropped the particular care provider? More info please.
