Another strawman as food for the useful i***ts - ignoring the reality that the left has had a stranglehold on education in America and led the dumbing down that leads to young people v****g for their own destruction - a president who gladly burdens them with debt and reduces their chance for success in the future.

OK, Chardo, in your world the right wing teacher's union is teaching our kids all kind of bad things, supported by the right wing Dept of Education - you folks are really in an alternate reality.

How has the "left" had a straglehold" on education? If you make any reasonable argument for that assertion, how does it negate the examples of conservative abuse of children that this article describes?

I guess you don't think the teacher's unions are left, just as you seem to think anyone not as far left as Mao to not be left, so I can understand your lack of realizing I dealt with the question of stranglehold already.
Now, if one controls the unions, does not one control what the union members do? Or perhaps that reality is another one you deny.
Finally - the garbage in the Salon article is pure l*****t propaganda, but again to Mao and you it probably seems conservative

I didn't want to get engaged in this thread so I ignored the link but you forced me to read it. I read most of it and then went back to the beginning and found that it had been taken from Alternet. If that isn't what left leaners would like to see I don't know what it is.

I am a Democrat and I support Obama so I assume that makes me a Left-Winger. Still, there is no way this crap will go into the history books. There may be a small few to the extreme right that would like it to be taught to our children but it won't ever happen. It is all so much BS except the part about Hippies being immoral, listening to the Beatles, and takeing LSD. I am 60, still a long hair, still listen to the Beatles and am still immoral. Gave up the LSD years ago though.

Hey Hoodmik....welcome! You are needed here! Mostly these people are right wing ideologues . There are a few rational ones that have interesting arguments but mostly that are blinded by fear , ignorance and h**e. Stick around, youll see what I mean

Chardo's arrogance and self regard continues to stun - people who disagree with him do so from fear, ignorance and h**e - but he is courageous, well informed and loving (of himself).
A man who spends his entire working life in the comfort of state employment has very limited real life experience in those places where people need to produce a value that others willingly pay for - a very strange and unknown world to bureaucrats who hold themselves in such high regard they are unable to understand and learn form the experiences of others

Dave, you call me arrogant and then have the temerity to disparage the work that I did without having a clue as to what the job was. "Comfort of state employment!!" Really? I was responsible for the lives of hundreds of abused, and neglected children. There were many long days and sleepless nights. If you don't think that protecting children has value you're a hopeless ass.

Dealing with the symptoms, abused and neglected children, is good - however does not provide the experience of the real world markets - which is what you lack.
Further - I'll accept you word that you were a caring and hard working social worker, but if that is true you know you were the exception to the rule, most people working those jobs - even if they start with good intentions - become calloused and hardly work hard at it.
Meanwhile, the core problem is often that the very bureaucracy that deals with these symptoms are the same that are enablers of the abusers - by allowing those who would abuse to have the economic means to survive and use the same children as tools to gain sustenance from the system.
I was an abused child, so do understand the value of protecting them - but real protection, not temporary relief is of far greater value.
Let the left wing wrist limping continue! Ain't you got something better to do, "The El Farto"?
