I have just joined this group and look forward to some interesting conversation. I consider myself a conservative who believes in freedom of speech and the ability of people to have different views and opinions with the openness to freely express them. I may disagree with a poster's position on political topics but I try not to attack them personally. I would hope they reciprocate accordingly.

Welcome. Depending on the level of controversy of the opinions you express, you will find some posters to be very disagreeable and try to label you with undeserved qualities or names. Don't let them assign you with labels that you feel you don't deserve. In general, most seem to want to enjoy it here but others are quick to jump on opinions they strongly disagree with. I hope you will bring a breath of fresh air to OPP.

You sound like a reasonable person and reason is not tolerated on this site. There are several regular contributors who are very bright and well informed, but most are AF's.

Thanks all for your replies. I have posted on other forums like this and know exactly what is the norm. In dealing with liberals in particular, they switch pretty fast from reasonable debate to personal attacks when they run out of any arguments in support of their position.

Very interesting. In his few brief comments you went from thinking he was reasonable to thinking he was an unreasonable jerk who came with a planned agenda and that he was a h**er who never changed his mind no matter what. What was it that tipped you off? Could it be that he said he was conservative? Naaahhh. You wouldn't do that, would you? It must be your mind reading sk**ls that are coming through again.
