Here are some words from a nice lady named Sylvia Thompson that may tell the real answer to that question. Every American who v**es should be required to read these words. Maybe not, since we don't like to question their rights to v**e.

Really, oldroy, do you think the right to v**e might hinge on the ability to read right wing talking points?

You really mean it's something you don't agree with so it must be right wing?

Did you read the right wing talking points that conservative black woman wrote? If so you should be talking about the race card since she did.

She writes like a ultra conservative even to the point of denial that the message they're selling isn't popular enough. It's to easy to point the finger somewhere else than at yourself. It's not the end for republicans but they need to admit the defeat of last year, stop believing that democrats only offer liberal, godless ideology and rebuild. Only then will they begin to offer campaigns that appeal to most of the mainstream in p**********l e******ns. They had plenty of good runs in the past with campaign pitches that sold like hotcakes.

That was before Santa took over. Are you going to tell me that that didn't have any effect on the v**e and the outcome? The next thing is ignorance, most of the 47% that Romney referred too could not tell you what Party Obama belongs too; which brings us to v***r f***d. { Too big to go into.} Now you combine that with the 4 million conservatives that stayed home and YES us Conservatives have a problem. Last but not least, the article was right in that we don't have strong leadership anywhere. We don't have anyone with the ability to communicate with the masses since the MSM will not cover Conservative talking points. Not even sure we have any talking points. We don't have a single person right now as a candidate to bring this party together that is not black; talking about Herman Cain and Ben Carson and then probably another 4 million will stay home. The ones that stayed home, I would ask. Are you happy now? The liberals don't have a lock on stupid. As a side note to OldRoy it was a damn good article and I personally agreed with her analogy but as you can tell still frustrated on how to solve the issues.

It should hinge on more than the ability to fog a mirror. Whether the v**er is Liberal, Conservative, or somewhere in between, rights carry concomitant responsibilites. Regardless of your political or ethical persuasion, it is criminal to let someone v**e who doesn't even know the name of their Congressman. You may as well let a monkey or parakeet v**e. While ignorant, semi-literate v**ers tend to v**e overwhelmingly Democratic now, that may change, and end up biting Liberals on the ass. I have no problem with someone who casts an informed, intelligent and considered v**e, whether I agree with them or not. As a matter of fact, I think it is vital to a vibrant political process to have competing points of view, as long as those points of view are based on knowledge, rather than emotion and gullibility.

I point out the one really important point of the lady's article and still nobody pays any attention to it. She said that the use of the race card is the major reason that conservatives know better than to say anything against Obama. I am not a politician so I can say anything against him I want to say because that race card pulled on me doesn't bother me. Politicians know the lack of smarts on the part of the v**ers of this nation and that once the race card has been pulled on them they remain r****t and unelectable.

May I invite you to read the article and then call me a r****t liar.

But Jack, the lady says that fear of being called a r****t if one doesn't like Obama has caused too many Republicans to hold back and nobody has talked about that but me. The blankety blank Republican supporting r****t has just called Obama a poor president so now they can open up on me.

On the contrary, I have talked about it, as have several others. I even hold the record for being insulted by a [black] "non-r****t": I am a "rases wite boi, no crebity." Top that.

The one thing the often cited (recently) Minor v Happersett (1875) case settled was that there is no "right to v**e" simply because you are an American citizens. Except as explicitly stated in the 15th (and later 19th) amendment, the States can define who may v**e as long as it is not "on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude" or "sex".

Her point that non-participation is as about good as a v**e for the side you oppose is, at least, a good rallying cry. I get lost in the contention that people treat this administration with kid-gloves. The Republicans do not oppose Obama because he is black (half-black, or any other shade) -- they oppose them because he is a Democrat. And probably the worse kind of Democrat -- a "Big Idea, Reformer Democrat" who has wild ideas that fundamental change is both needed and possible. He is a "boat rocker" and it makes them c-sick ("C" as an abbreviation for "conservative" ). They probably would not be particularly happy with Hillary either, but that would not be because they are sexist. They might have worked as well with her to implement ACA as they did during her 1990s attempts at promoting healthcare reform. She at least had the secondhand experience of h*****g around Bill and all the politics around him for decades. I think Obama has a large dose of "new kid on the block" that really irks the old-timers (of both parties, at times).

I, personally, always try my best to never be a r****t ever at all. What scares me is that certain people, inside of our government, would probably hunt someone down for something said unliking to their ideas and have that someone completely disappear from the face of the earth.

Left leaners continually call me r****t because I don't agree with many things that Obama does. The media constantly attacks politicians who don't side with him and r****t is their most normal attack word.

I think you have failed to see that nobody would be as much against Obama as I am just for race. It is the corruption and just plain gangsterism that has come with him that I don't like. It has nothing to do with his race other than the fact that he and Holder do exhibit lots of r****m like in the Philadelphia NBP actions at polling places in 2010

Do you think that these people are black, white, or some other race? Obama is about ready to attack people for being white.

oldroy - Probably a combination of every race. I believe that our government would attack anyone who disagrees with their ideas.
