Level Headed Republicans

I have been really keeping an eye on all of this defunding Obama care/government shut down and have come to the conclusion that there still are some level headed Republicans out there. Cruz and his cronies are in my opinion just as pig headed as Obama and his cronies. This all or nothing attitude from both sides is getting ridiculous as well as very counter productive. It simply means nothing is getting done while they have their continuous pissing contests with each other.

My top two level headed Republicans (based on what they say in these articles)

Rand Paul
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/09/22/paul-probably-cant-get-rid-obamacare/

Pat Toomey
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/09/23/whats-end-game-lawmakers-seek-way-out-obamacare-showdown/

I agree that stopping Obamacare is probably a losing battle as long as Obama is in the White House, so trying to achieve an across the board victory is essentially a waste of time and resources that could be applied to more meaningful pursuits.

It is time to finally get around to finding a comprise that both parties can deal with. A compromise after all is where both parties are unhappy with their slice of the pie but the needs of the common good are met. A pipe dream? Probably.

I cannot think of an instance when the Republicans c*********d and the country did not get screwed. The Dems NEVER compromise and the country ALWAYS gets screwed.

This what should happened when the law was being written, but the stubborn oppositition of the so-called conservatard leaders prevented the more moderate, level-headed republicans from participating. Now they are scrambling and will not catch up.

I'd rather have someone in there that will stand up to the dictator and not compromise their beliefs. Its better than bowing to the king, and giving him everything he wants at our expense.

Level headed Republicans AKA RINOs! This is a fight for principle! You liberals are going to be absolutely shocked next year, and the year after, when you get your new health insurance premium increase. And, if you choose not to have insurance coverage, you're going to love that IRS penalty payment due notice in the mail.

Then, there is the longer waits, lower quality healthcare, death panels, lower quality doctors, scarcity of doctors, etc. etc. etc.

Why would someone choose not to have health insurance? At the age many of the posters here claim to be, how could you not afford to have health insurance? And if you are on Medicare and/or Medicaid, we the taxpayer are providing that entitlement to you. And for all of you who claim free market solutions, try this one. More patients, more demand for doctors, more smart students will become doctors.

This "fight for principle" as you call it is doing more harm than good to the American people. I am a Republican, and conservative, but my first allegiance is to my country and it's people. It was for them that I left my blood on foreign soil, not a political party and their individual idealisms. When a matter of principle overrides common sense it becomes arrogance and self indulgence rather than a means toward the common good. You can call me a rhino, wishy washy conservative or anything else that makes you feel better about yourself, but I am first and foremost a patriot. I believe in what is in the best interest of my country and it's citizens, the political BS going on right now is harming my country and that pisses me off.

You apparently didn't read an earlier post that the ACA Bill that was passed is almost a carbon copy of the GOPs' 1993 version of a health care bill to counter "Hillary Care". It was first proposed by the Heritage Foundation, and was supported by Gingrich, and the GOP leadership groups. It included a single payer provision not allowed by the ACA, due to refusal by GOP leadership. The ACA, in and of itself,
was a compromise by Obamas' administration.

The sad part was, the Clinton administration turned it down, no doubt due to the fact that it wasn't theirs. The GOP fought passage of the ACA, primiarily, because Obama
added his name to what was their 1993 proposal.

I wonder what would have happened, over the years, if Bill had accepted the GOP offer back in 1993? You think either side would have their current objections?

I wonder.... but think not.

Interesting view point.

For any one who may wish to explore this and compare the two:

http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Stories/2010/February/23/GOP-1993-health-reform-bill.aspx

I think you will find some very critical (and negative) aspects of Obamacare missing from this proposal. Judge for yourself.

I have been reading these posts for a while now and very seldom reply. I LOVE to read your posts because they give me good, belly-shaking laughs. This time, however, I will respond. You, sir, have got to be the stupidest person in this country. For one thing most of the people who are against Ovomitcare (I call it that because it makes me sick) already have insurance; we just don't want to pay for yours. Get it? And as for medi-care, it is not an entitlement. It is deducted from our paychecks (something you wouldn't know about) every pay period. And by pay period I don't mean the 3rd of the month when welfare checks come to your mailbox. Just to let you know, my doctor of 25 years has decided to opt for early retirement rather that put up with this crap. It's just not worth it. More doctors? Think again. The "smart" students will run far and fast from an M.D. degree. But the real reason most people h**e Ovomitcare? BECAUSE THE GOVT. DOESN'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL IT'S CITIZENS WHAT TO SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED CASH ON!!! That is just one more right taken from us.
