What do you think would happen if every one put aside their differences as to political views, put aside their liberal or conservative leanings. What if we all just decided to be human beings, eliminate hatred, put aside grudges. What would happen if we all decided to work for one common goal no matter what our differences may be. Just every person on this planet deciding to work together so that we can be in control of our own destinies.

I understand that this is impossible within this world we live in. But what if. Are we even capable of putting our own needs aside for the greater good, humanity as a whole. Or are we willing to turn our back on humanity to only think of ourselves.

As one we die, as a united group we live.

The problem with that idea, is that it requires that everyone have the same moral and ethical beliefs. How do you propose that to happen? It would take a giant catastrophe to first put everyone on a fundamental level of survival, forgetting all hopes of political or humanitarian support, and then maybe, just maybe, the thinking can be directed to your idea.

If you are a Christian, this calamity is predicted.

The premise is that every one has set aside all negative thoughts, emotions, hatred, all people have chosen to become more than themselves. Every argument, negative thought, r****m, intolerance, None of it exists any more. We all have the ability to control ourselves in a way that eliminates violence, there is no need for a government because everyone is honest. There is no crime because every one has agreed to commit no crime, and they don't.

Do you know how many people have made this recommendation throughout the thousands of years? The notion predates Jesus Christ and for every generation the same idea has been posed to humankind. You would think that after all these years, it would be possible. But, you are not recognizing human nature.

We are a quarrelsome lot. War for the sake of iden­tity and estab­lishing bound­aries for this iden­tity (stone age/​tribal wars, me vs. you, we vs. them), and the more modern one; war in order to oblit­erate someone/​something (Christian vs. Muslims, Muslims vs. Jews, Stalin vs. people of the Soviet Union, Hutus vs. Tutsis, most soci­eties in the world vs. drugs/​terrorism/​extremism, etc). How do I know this, well in every language there is a word for war. For a word to be of value, it must paint a picture in someone else's mind. But, did you know that there is no word that is as clearly defined for peace?

One day, we will all perish and be judged. Do we want to add to our faults by being uncivil along with our other sins?

Utopia! Everybody is drinking something strange. Too many good college Anthropologist Profs will tell you cultures destroy cultures! Somebody is always going to want what you have on a large scale! Keep a big stick and make sure your neighbor understands you will use it! Do your history - Utopia is an afterlife! As a surviving combat veteran I know what the human element is capable of doing - keep an open mind - but not so open your brain falls out! As the great economist George Orwell said "We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us."  I h**e to be harsh but you must understand this is dangerous both world and domestic. We currently have a very serious domestic issue and it isn't the Tea Party!

I am truly sorry that you are so very angry. I was also in the military, so you are not soldiering along without others on this site who knows the meaning of freedom. I come from a very long line of military men and being the first female I could not break with tradition or deny myself the honor of service to my country. Indeed, my sons carried on the tradition.

I wish you well and hope that you get treatment for your anger issues. Do not trouble yourself with responding to this because I have no intention of letting the likes of you to d**g me into your illusions of grander and self importance.
