In 1993, Clinton issued an order banning guns from US military bases. Prior to that order, officers of certain ranks were required to wear side arms.

As usual, someone who never served in the military should never be "elected" to be CIC of the "armed forces". Serving in the military should be part of the requirements for running for President.

What I am in a quandary about is where was the commanding officer and base official during the interviews after the shooter had meet his demise. It was just one lone shooter and no ar15. He had a pistol and a shot gun. Why were all those female city police officer on the base during all interviews. Was this not a military base with a marine unit. The marine should have easily handle that little exigency with out civilian help. At least the marine corps of my day could. We took p***e in not having any thing to do with civilians. At least we would have never required a group of female city police officer to come and rescued us. I was so disgusted to see full commanders laying on the floor and running. In my opinion The military look weak and ridiculous. A girl scout troop could have shine better.

I agree. Nor should anyone who has not satisfactorily fulfilled his military obligation be allowed as well (G. W. Bush)

Maybe there were other thing on his plate like the economy was headed south then 911.

Bush was by far more in the military than Clinton or Obama. There were 1000's of reservists that did far less than Bush.
