The Adagio in E Minor, by Albinone

Life: this composition seems to capture every possibly facet of it. It seems both an anguish lament and a humble acceptance, even joy in being despite it all. What caught me was listening to it for a hundreth time (or so): no room for politics! Our soul, humanity, is not best served by partisan blindness. "We the people" have no ideology; we have each other.

There are certain songs where I am led to the heart of all and it becomes impossible to think of us, the whole world of us, as anything else but family. I get sick with the hatred and division, which too many take as business as usual and do not ache over this to the core of their being. It is not an intellectual exercise.

One of my favorite pieces, especially with the volume cranked up.
